LFW Monthly Awards - September 2008
Thursday, 9th Oct 2008 22:28

Welcome back to LFW Monthly Awards for the QPR player, match and goal of the month. We bring you the result of the August vote plus September's nominees. Thanks in advance for taking part.

Welcome back to the LFW Monthly Awards Vote which previously, when we introduce it seems to coincide with a major slump in form of the team and we only have say, two goals to choose from - and also, end up choosing which match we were least depressed in. However, August had brought us six matches and plenty of choice, long may it continue.

Here are the results for August 2008;

GOAL OF THE MONTH was Fitz Hall’s superb volley against Barnsley on the opening day.

MATCH OF THE MONTH was the 4-0 Carling Cup win over Carlisle

And

PLAYER OF THE MONTH was Emmanuel Ledesma

Moving onto September’s nominations and despite a recent slump in form, there is still plenty to choose from…

But firstly, how to Vote;

MATCH OF THE MONTH

Just seven to choose from and four in one match, but which was your favourite? Something tells me we may have a runaway winner…

QPR 4-1 Southampton

Norwich 0-1 QPR

Coventry 1-0 QPR

Aston Villa 0-1 QPR

QPR 0-2 Derby

QPR 1-1 Blackpool

GOAL OF THE MONTH

Dexter Blackstocks’ first v Southampton - Gavin Mahon launched a long throw into the penalty area and with the entire Southampton rearguard sucked into the near post the ball was allowed to bounce once over Lee Cook’s head and roll agonisingly along the edge of the six yard box before Dexter Blackstock brought the farce to an end with an unstoppable finish into the roof of the net.

Damion Stewart v Southampton - Rowlands stepped up and whipped a devilish delivery into the far post area where Damion Stewart ghosted in behind and slammed home his first league goal of the season – replays showed him to be at least three yards offside when the ball was played, a poor decision from the linesman but just the breakthrough Rangers needed.

Dexter Blackstock’s second v Southampton - Big Pat held off his man well and will have been disappointed, and no doubt a little surprised, when Davis thrust up an arm to keep his powerful drive out at close range. The loose ball rolled behind Agyemang to Blackstock and he calmly banged in his second of the game against his former employers.

Patrick Agyemang v Southampton - racing to the edge of the area in the first minute of stoppage time and hitting a low shot with such venom that even Davis was unable to do anything about it.

Martin Rowlands v Norwich - At the third time of asking Rowlands stepped up and drilled an unstoppable shot low through a gap in the wall created by Dexter Blackstock and into the corner of the net. Marshall in the City goal didn’t even know it had happened.

Damion Stewart v Aston Villa - The ball ran across to Daniel Parejo wide on the QPR right and he whipped in a glorious cross which was gobbled up enthusiastically by Stewart at the near post after he’d remained forward following the corner. The Big Jamaican’s third of the season headed with such velocity it nearly ripped the net off the back of the posts.

Dexter Blackstock v Blackpool - Buzsaky’s effort was struck hard and true, over the wall and onto the cross bar almost snapping it in two. With the keeper committed the rebound dropped invitingly into the goal mouth melee and Dexter Blackstock stooped to head it into the unguarded net.
