Ipswich v QPR Betting Preview
Ipswich v QPR Betting Preview

Our two pundits cast their eye over the Ipswich v QPR match and any value they have spotted elsewhere in the weekend markets.

With The Don labouring under a work load akin to that of a caretaker football manager the betting column is opening its doors to a new competitor this week, although when I say new I actually mean old because Barry Munnelly has been here before and won a few quid as well. Let’s see if he can boost Sam’s total of -£50 so far this season, or make a further dent in the LFW bank account – difficult times in the financial markets, but our pundits don’t seem to care one jot. Brian is down £175.

Brian Power

Over the past six weeks winners have been of short supply and I put it down to the lack of competition as the motivation has not been there. But as NorthernR has said there will be a fellow pundit to put my wits against I am going all out for a profit this week. If you can’t get anyone to do it contact Jonathan Ross or Russell Brand as they will have a bit of spare time on their hands over the next few weeks but don’t give them your phone number or introduce Brand to any female member of your family.

We head to Ipswich this weekend and I think we can take all 3 points from the Tractor Boys. I will go for a 2-1 win correct score and stick with Cookie for the opening goal. I will have a £5 on Daniel Agger at a big price (normally 25/1 but have a look round) to take advantage of Spurs ropey defence. And a couple of footie bets to round things off.

For the weekend:
£7.50 QPR 2-1 11/1 William Hill
£5 L Cook 1st goal 18/1 Paddy Power
£5 D Agger 1st goal, 25/1 generally
£22.50 acca - Oldham 8/11 Peterborough 1/2 Man Utd 1/4 Chelsea 2/9 Skybet
£2 trebles £2 Accum - Swansea 6/4 Millwall 6/4 Hartlepool 8/5 Wycombe 19/10

The Challenger

Barry originally volunteered to get involved in the betting column when it started two seasons ago and has spent most of him time since parked on a stool by the screens in Ladbrokes, phone in hand, waiting for me to call. His occasional forays onto LFW have brought profit and loss in equal measure and he’s agreed to offer us some thoughts on this weekend’s markets from the departure lounge at the airport – never a good sign, but fear not he’s holidaying in Ireland rather than actually fleeing anything. He is currently, and I quote, “running around like a tit”. Trust this man with your money – somebody who can be asked for tips at 10am on a day when he’s preparing to go on holiday and not only doesn’t tell you to piss off, he actually delivers them within three hours is a man worthy of trust!

For the weekend:
£2 Lucky 15, (£30 stake) 1st goalscorers in Saturday matches
Nicolas Anelka (scum v Sunderland) 7/2
Dimitar Berbatov (Utd v Hull) 9/2
Akos Buzsaky (QPR v Ipswich) 12/1
Leroy Lita (Burnley v Norwich) 8/1

£10 half-time/full time betting Ipswich v QPR
QPR (half time)/ Draw (full time) 14/1

£10 - Damion Stewart (QPR) 1st goal - Correct score 1-1 - 125/1
