Lee Cook seems set to complete a permanent move to QPR in the January transfer window. Heading out the other way could well be Lee Camp and Adam Bolder as Paulo Sousa settles down and continues to impress his new playing squad.

Cook, 26, has been on loan to QPR from Fulham since the start of the season. This is his third spell at Loftus Road after leaving the club 18 months ago for £2.5m, sadly a bad knee injury prevented him from making a single appearance for Fulham and he now looks set to move back to the club he supports for a fee in the region of £900k this January.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson probably said a little more than he should have done in a press conference at the weekend prior to Fulham’s draw with Man City. "To the best of my knowledge, Lee has already been transferred," he said although he was quickly pulled up by a press officer who told him that news was not official.

Cook told this month’s FourFourTwo: ““I’m hoping to sign permanently in January. Will I ask for my signing-on fee back? I’m sure there will be a passing mention.

“A three-year plan is in place, but I believe we can get there sooner. With Iain Dowie gone, there has been a period of adjustment, but there will be no let-up from our fans for us to get up this season. There’s definitely more pressure, because of our wealth, and you have to be able to handle it.”

Cook came back into the team on Saturday night after a three week injury lay off and has yet to hit the heights of his previous spell with Rangers as he attempts to recover from such a long lay off. With QPR now playing without out and out wingers in a diamond midfield formation it remains to be seen what role Cook will play under Paulo Sousa – against Wolves he filled in at the attacking point of the diamond. Later this week LFW will look at whether this transfer is a good idea or not.

In the wake of our impressive 1-0 win against Wolves the players have once again been full of praise for manager Paulo Sousa, who cancelled their regular Wednesday off last week to prepare for the game against Mick McCarthy’s men and repeated the dose on Sunday.

Striker Patrick Agyemang told the Telegraph: “The manager has made a big difference. He's very strict in training. He wants it done his way and he wants you to listen to him all the time. He's always drumming things into our heads. He's playing with this diamond formation which he wants everyone to know. We're having meetings every day, watching videos. Sometimes it is like going back to school. But it's good.

"Wolves are the leaders and they've scored a lot of goals, but we stopped their strikers [28-goal partnership Chris Iwelumo and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake] from scoring, or even getting involved. If we can beat the top of the league we can beat anybody."

Despite a shakey performance at Coventry on Saturday Lee Camp has been a big hit at Nottingham Forest who have only lost once in their last eight matches. That’s largely thanks to the young keeper who saved late penalties at Bristol City and Derby to win the reds valuable points. Forest can sign Camp permanently in January for a fee in the region of £700k and Forest boss Colin Calderwood has said it’s a move they are keen to make.

Calderwood said: "We have Lee until January 1 but we are very hopeful that it will become a permanent move. We have the rest of the month to sit down and discuss things. But we are really pleased with Lee's input to the team and it is important that we have stability in terms of minimising the goals against us."

Another QPR player out on loan is Angelo Balanta and he scored again for Wycombe at the weekend as they lost 3-2 at Aldershot, ending the Football League’s only remaining unbeaten record. A third, Adam Bolder, looks set for a prolonged spell at Millwall. Last week he admitted he would be willing to stay at The Den and following the extension of his loan through to January his manager Kenny Jackett said: “QPR are happy to extend his loan and a lot depends on what they think as to whether it can become a permanent deal. They’ve let him play in the FA Cup and those are the sort of indicators which tell you things. Adam will have options himself so it depends on what QPR and the player think, but we’ve been pleased with him so far.”

Youth teamer Ramone Rose will not be making his loan move to FA Cup giant killers Histon permanent – he has failed to impress in Cambridgeshire and looking at the John Beck inspired physicality of the Histon side and Rose’ slight frame that’s not the greatest surprise.

The rumour mill continues to turn with less than a month to go until the transfer window opens. Hearts Portuguese midfielder Bruno Aguiar is a name doing the rounds, he has just been awarded the SPL Player of the Month award for November. Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson looks to be the most likely January arrival – QPR tried hard to sign him in the summer but with Simon Jordan’s nemesis Iain Dowie now gone and Watson’s unextended contract now nearing its conclusion Rangers are in a position of strength this transfer window – Watson has made it known he prefers a move to Loftus Road although Reading are said to be sniffing around. The weekend newspapers also linked the R’s with former Sheffield United striker Colin Kazim Richards who is currently playing for Fenerbahce and the Turkish national team – a word of caution though, his former manager at Brighton Mark McGhee describes the striker as “impossible to work with.”

Former QPR players in the news include Vinnie Jones who has been arrested for a fight over a bar room pool table in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Ian Holloway is one of five men on the shortlist for the vacant manager’s job at Swindon Town. Finally Marc Bircham sadly could be retiring from the game aged just 30 as he continues to struggle with back, hamstring and ankle injuries at Yeovil. Bircham said: “"I went to see the specialist about a week ago and he said I should consider retiring, so I am giving it a good think over the next week or two and giving my decision then. I had my back and hamstring before and got over them but I can't get over this. I have had about six injections in my ankle and it is not really working.”
