Forest v QPR Betting Preview
Forest v QPR Betting Preview

A look ahead to QPR's trip to Nottingham and other value in the weekend markets from a pundit's point of view.

Winners all over the bleedin place last week – and I can never recall saying that before. Brian Power, previously on -£397.81 went absolutely crazy with a monumental accumulator win thanks to a last minute goal for Yeovil. A £2 acca and four £2 trebles brought him £143.89 and £92.14 respectively and he even claimed a fiver back on his QPR v Swansea bet as that was a non runner. A profit of £211.03 for the week and the deficit is now down to -£186.78. The Challenger account is now miraculously turning a profit. Backing QPR and Reading to draw netted £32.50 and pairing Bolton and Fulham in a double won us £55 so that overall balance is now £76.61.

The joy of a last minute winner is fantastic. Remember Leicester at home a couple of years ago or Cardiff away in the year of the play off final? I have a new contender. Take a bow Yeovil’s Gavin Tomlin who scored on the fifth minute of injury time to clinch our acca last week - a very nice return. With a lot of sport destined to be cancelled this weekend due to the weather we will get our crystal ball out and look towards the future. If we do play, Forest have a few injuries and I fancy us for a win so I will have 3-1 as the score and Leigertwood for first goal.

The Six Nations starts and we will go for the French to win the tournament at 7/2 and a small wager on them to win the grand slam at 10/1.

Cheltenham is getting closer and with Denman scheduled to race at Newbury this week end likely to be postponed and with the health scare he had I think Kauto Star is a great bet at 3/1 to win the Gold Cup.

For the weekend:
QPR to win 3-1 £5
Leigertwood to score first £5
For the notebook:
France to win the 6 Nations £15 7/2 Skybet
France to win the Grand Slam £5 10/1 Bet365
Kauto Star to win Cheltenham Gold Cup £20 3/1 Corals

Another profit on football bets last week but my dabble into other sports went horribly wrong. I do like NFL and as it was the Super Bowl last Sunday it made sense to whack a wedge on that although as it had been compared to the FA Cup final between Man Utd and Millwall there was not a great deal of value to go around. Consequently I went for a first scorer bet and I went for under dogs Arizona on the basis that they had just as much chance of winning the toss as Pittsburgh and therefore they may well bag a field goal or something in the first possession even if they did go on to lose. Bloody silly sods won the toss and elected to kick the ball to the Steelers didn’t they?! Anyway money made so I cannot complain too much.

This weekend sees the start of the Rugby League season although with Harlequins likely to be off tomorrow and Leeds likely to be a whitewash tonight betting on individual games will wait until next week – in the meantime I’ll stick a tenner on Hull’s Richard Agar to win the sack race, former Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp waits in the wings. You’ll excuse me for sticking to Premiership games in the football bets this weekend but lower down I fancy a fair few cancellations.

For the weekend:
Forest v QPR – draw £20 23/10 Bet365
Damion Stewart to score first – 28/1 Bet365 £10
Treble Aston Villa (6/4), Wigan (evens) and West Brom (5/4) to win £5
Double Sunderland v Stoke (5/2) and Tottenham v Arsenal (23/10) to draw £5

For the notebook:
Hull FC coach Richard Agar to be the first Super League coach sacked 8/1 Bet365, £10
