Mikele Leigertwood could play his one hundredth game for QPR on Friday night as the R’s face Leicester live on Sky Sports. Leigertwood was the first signing made following the takeover of the club by Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Miyall, joining the R’s for a fee in the region of £900k from Sheffield United.

As he prepares to play for Rangers for the 100th time he told the BBC: “There's been a lot of change in my short time here - managers, players and personnel. It's taken its time but it seems to be paying off at the moment. The players have changed, we've changed managers numerous times and they're (the owners) just trying to get the right formula. We're doing well at the moment but most of us now have been here for a little while since the new owners came in. Obviously is still here, Damion Stewart's still here, a lot of the players signed in the January after the owners came in and we've got Adel and Wayne who on their day are world beaters. It's nice to go from relegation troubles to potential title challengers. But we don't want to speak about promotion until it's a real possibility, it's still early days yet and we've just got to keep our heads and try not to get complacent.”

While Leigertwood is hoping to win his right back place back from Peter Ramage one man almost certain of a start on Friday is Jay Simpson who has six goals in eight appearances for the R’s and told The Mirror that he is more than happy to stay at Loftus Road. Simpson said: “'I know Arsenal are watching and I have enjoyed it at QPR, it has been good. I am really enjoying playing for Jim Magilton and John Gorman. As long as the team is scoring lots of goals you know you are going to get at least one opportunity in the game. So I go into the games believing I am going to score in every match right now even though on occasions I play upfront by myself. If we can continue our run of form hopefully we can get promoted. West Brom wanted me back but I didn't feel it was the right choice for me. My time there taught me the politics that come with football and made it difficult for the team to play well - especially as we were bottom of the table.”

In former QPR news injury prone centre half Pat Kanyuka says he is relishing the chance to get his career back on track at Northampton following his summer release by Swindon Town. Kanyuka told the BBC: “After being out of the game for a while, short term will fire me up. Every game is like a cup final. Northampton have given me an opportunity so I'm very thankful. I really want to show what I can do."

Elsewhere in the Championship today Leicester have set Edgar Davids a Friday deadline to see if he wants to come to the Walkers Stadium. Forest striker Rob Earnshaw is hoping to win his fitness race to be fit for this weekend’s game against his former club Cardiff. Bristol City goaklkeeper Dean Gerken has been arrested and fined for indecent exposure after urinating in a public place at the weekend.
