Raccy v Roccy as pre-season begins
Mon 09th Jul 2012 21:04 by Col

Dale travel to Radcliffe Borough on Wednesday night as the pre-season campaign begins.

The Dale of 2012-13 will be a very different beast to the Dale of 2011-12, and our first glimpse of what we are likely to see can be viewed at Boro's Stainton Park on Wednesday evening.

With a large number of trialists at the club at the moment, it will be very much an evening spent working out who is who, with the odd recognisable face from last season amongst the ranks.

Admission to the game will be £7 for adults, £2 for those 16-18, free for all under sixteens and £5 for concessions. For those that haven't been to Boro's Stainton Park ground before, full directions can be obtained from here.

It isn't the first time that Dale have travelled to Radcliffe for a preseason game. In 2009, we recorded a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from a French trialist known only as Gomez, whilst a 3-0 win was picked up in 2002 with goals from Michael Oliver, Kevin Townson and Gareth Griffiths. However, the pick of the visits was a 9-0 thumping back in 2003.

As an added twist, the game will be sponsored by former Dale defender Craig Dawson. The West Brom man recently celebrated a call up to the GB Olympic team and following that, he decided to sponsor the game between his two former sides. However, due to the Olympics, he will be unable to make the game.
