Pub Guide - Church Inn
Wed 01st Aug 2007 09:15 by Col

Situated just a short stumble from the away turnstiles, this is a pub which tends to be a favourite of visiting away fans. Though that's clearly not to state that its away fans only. Far from it, you'll always find Dale supporters in there, plus a small number of non footballing locals. But it's certainly one which tends to draw in the away supporters.

On the down side, the pub can tend to get a bit crowded on match days, but that in itself can in interpreted as proof of its popularity. There can be very few pubs as close to a ground as this one is, and if that's not enough, there's probably the best chippy in town en route to the away turnstiles all in the space of less than fifty yards.

There's a big screen TV, and the pub has gone one of those Setanta Irish satellite feeds meaning it will show Premiership matches before and after games, and if you can't be bothered actually going into the game, there'll probably be one shown at 3pm too. There's a pool table too if you fancy a couple of frames before kick off.

It's licensed by Scottish & Newcastle, meaning you've got John Smiths on draft. And if you're a smoker, then you're in luck. It comes with a beer patio with an overspill into the Bowling Green, meaning that you can still pop outside and enjoy a cigarette.
