Moyes to be sacked on 22:33 - Apr 21 by DiddyDave

Can`t see it happening not with Fergie and Bobby Charlton still on the Board.

Fergie has already refused to get involved. Giggs and Phelan are the likeliest option if 'those in the know' are to be believed.

VanGaal is the "preferred option" for a full time appointment.

Van Gaal is prostituting himself all over the premierleague if you believe half the rumours circulating.

Life is a game of fate.

This episode is so similar to when Busby retired in 1969. They appointed ex player Wilf McGuinness to the job,but having won the European Cup a year earlier United were a poor side, not helped by Denis Law`s arrogance and George Best starting what was to be his on going shenanigans that seemed to affect the whole team. Of course it all ended in poor old Wilf getting the boot and United eventually getting relegated by a Denis Law back heel when he briefly returned to City in `73. Fergie has also left Moyes with an aging, poor side, though with the amount of players on United`s books,it seems almost incredible that they are so crap. Therefore I think the players are taking the piss out of Moyes like they did 45 years ago with McGuinness, and it sure proves the point that most of Fergie`s success was due to his bully boy style, not necessarily his coaching abilities.

It was always a poisoned chalice, whoever got the job. Moyes has been made into a laughing stock. They give him a 6-year contract and then get rid after 11 months.

The suits at United need to look a lot deeper into the club to see where the real problems lie, instead of sacrificing a manager who was doomed from the start.

Yep.

The suits listened to to a mad old Stalinesque **** who's believed himself to be beyond reproach or criticism for the past decade.

Further to that, United's golden generation was long gone and he inherited a silver generation.

Decent summary of what happened 45 years ago but your last point is utter bollox

How many league titles and cups, based on being a bully boy? Tch...

Moyes, like McGuiness, was so clearly out of his depth from day one it was obvious to even the casual observer, so you're right about the players having him sussed

Entirely agree. However they will sign up some big name from Europe who will massage the share price, satisfy the fans (who have in many cases revealed themselves to be massively immature at times this season), turn up for a couple of years and then swan off and suddenly a decade will go by without them winning much.

However, Moyes himself I wish well to. Despite his brace for Preston which could have cost us the title in 97 (but didn't). He will get another job, although he shouldn't be afraid of taking something a bit lower profile. He is a laughing stock now, but if he's good he won't stay as such.

There are other such precedents - McLaren had an awful time as England manager but ask any Derby fan (my Mrs is from Derby so I know a few) if they would give him up right now, or any Middlesbrough fan if they are happier now or when McLaren was in charge and you see there is more to a career than one high-profile failure.

Aside from not wanting him sacked because of the comedy value, the saddest part in this mornings' events has been the amount of fookin' airtime afforded to that prize prick professional Manc, Terry fookin' Christian.

Every time something happens at that club you get Terry Christian, Rowetta, and Eamonn bloody Holmes piping up within minutes.

Mclaren has already been on TV re Moyes.

He said......" For Shure, I think maybe Moyesh should move to different land sho he can shpeak new language like I am doing now. Hish shkills will be very better for thish..........Itsh timesh like thish you have to think of the Oasish and Man Chity shong Don't Look Back in Anger, altogether now, Shhoooooooooooo Shhhallllyyyyyy can wait........"

This can work on a Sean Connery and Tony Benn level but they have no relevance to this post whatsoever except that the former is a Scot and so is Moyes. Mclaren's definitely Dutch and Barton's a French philosopher from Le Huyton de la mer la.

Eamonn Holmes said, 'David Moyes is a very nice man, but he doesn't understand our club'. What a load of sanctimonious claptrap. And you last managed which club, Mr. Holmes and for how many games ??

Since when were you on the board of directors at Old Trafford Mr. Holmes ? When were you appointed club spokesman ? Or the odious Terry Christian for that matter.

You and the other high-profile gobshites think you have a divine right to claim some kind of ownership of MUFC simply because your mug is on the gogglebox every day. You only jump on the MUFC bandwagon when there is a trophy in sight every season.

You and your ilk in the 'prawn sandwich brigade' have never seen the club struggle but hey - welcome to the real world. Apart from the top six Premiership clubs, every other club in the FL would think that finishing 7th in the Premiership was a massive success.

It might come as a shock, but MUFC have no divine right to the Premiership title, 'top four spot', the FA Cup, the European Cup or any other silverware. (David Moyes did actually win the Charity Shield, or have you forgotten that ?)

If 'your club' continues to treat people like throwaway commodities and bows down to a few dissenting voices amongst the hideously over paid Prima Donnas in the dressing room, there will be much more of the same in the coming years.

Get used to it. I'm looking forward to it.

He's just a fan, and many of us were saying similar things about the custody of our club just over twelve months ago.

Ferguson turned the club into the dominant force in England, they were a decent side prior to Fergie, but he took them to whole new levels, for any manager to replace him was almost doomed to fail from the off. Moyes lack of experience dealing with world class players, for me, was always going to be a stumbling block long term, being Fergies choice probably bought him more time with the fans than results deserved. Ultimately its how it is nowadays, managers are not given chances to build a team let alone a legacy, the more experienced of Man U fan will be disappointed I feel, as it was always going to be a situation that called for patience rather than panic.

Put it all down to experience Mr Moyes. Take the pay off money (four and a half million I heard),buy yourself a nice house in the country close to a trout stream and golf course, and stick two fingers up at the luntic asylum that is modern day football.

They will have no excuses at all for not winning the prem next year..a good budget to spend in the summer, no euro matches..even if they qualify for the Europa league they wont bust a gut over that...ditch the FA and League cups at stage one...

so should be a ride in the park?
