More woes for Blackpool 15:09 - Jul 24 with 1198 views | Frog | Taken from the BBC news website: Blackpool's pre-season friendly against Alfreton, which was scheduled for Saturday, has now been cancelled because of a lack of players for the Championship side. This comes after their tour of Spain was cancelled and a recent friendly against Penrith saw the Tangerines field five trial players in the team.

It was thought that he would be shipped out after clashing with the Oyston mob. Meanwhile, the Oystons have called for 'calm' after a demonstration at Bloomfield Road last weekend. Who the hell would want to sign for Blackpool anyway in their current state ? They look doomed before a ball is kicked.

The Oystons have run the club for many years - in the early 1990s I recall seeing Owen Oyston, wearing his trademark fedora, in the visiting directors' box when Dale very satisfyingly won 4-2 - and are reputedly worth over £100m (according to Wikipedia, though OO's entry there is mainly about his mid-90s trials and imprisonment). Blackpool were lucky to keep their Championship position last season, but the directors seem not to have sorted out the problems, whatever those are. [Post edited 24 Jul 2014 16:38]
