It stands out in the same way a Kim Jong-un haircut in Rochdale stands out.

And deezel, yes, that was the match.

Weve done better if you go back further. 2 northern finals created a bit of excitement back then.

I'd like to thank Mr Thackeray for deciding to kick into a gale force wind at Carlisle. Great idea!
The wind and rain was mental that night in that open end.

Never have I not wanted to be at a game more than that night. When you consider all the rubbish before and since, that should give an indication of how bad the weather was. At times the only option was to face away from the pitch as the wind and rain was that obscene, and by half time the toilets were full of people sheltering from the elements. It was like the scene of a disaster movie in that first half, humanity against Mother Nature.

Even if Mother Nature had lost the toss, Thackeray would have still let her choose to batter the away end with a perfect storm of catastrophic conditions. He's a bloody fool.

And to make it even worse, the storm had abated by the time the teams came out for the second half, which negated any possible advantage we might have had. Scoring the goal to make it 4-1 was just a teaser to let us think we had a chance in the return leg.

As it happened, I missed us going 2-0 up through some family business I had to attend to, and Carlisle made it 2-1 within seconds of me arriving.

And to put the icing on the cake, my mate drove so slowly on the way back from the first leg at Carlisle that we missed last orders at Th' Hole In The Wall by seconds.

2 Northern finals played. 3-0 down at half time in both! Great chance tonight though and Hill has the luxury of playing his strongest 11 if he wishes. This team has a chance of doing well - the 2 teams that got to the Northern finals are no match for our current crop. Hopeful. Even getting through tonight has the chance of a very decent quarter final with possibly bury, Oldham or Barnsley waiting.

Tazzy, have you got Saturday's Lottery numbers or, more crucially, the number of extra fans at bury v Portsmouth compared to Dale v Gillingham a week on Saturday?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
