Harry Roberts is our friend, is our friend, is our friend. Harry Roberts is our friend - he kills coppers.

Sung on nearly every football terrace in England after the killings in 1966.

Sung loud and clear by the Sandy on many a Saturday afternoon in the late 60's, usually as a local bobby walked along in front of them.

This is an excerpt from the same story covered yesterday in The Times. Don't imagine he is much further to rehabilitation in the five years since...

Roberts, 78, who is being held at Littlehey Prison in Cambridgeshire, appeared before the parole board in 2009 but was refused release. He was judged too dangerous to be freed when it emerged that he had rung an elderly lady at an animal sanctuary where he had been on day release five times a week.

One of her horses was battered with an iron bar, a donkey’s pelvis was shattered and a peacock was strangled. The family cat was also electrocuted.
