Yes Whitey, I agree, selling Done ended our top six hope. And your viewpoint is coming from an outsider. How much money would we have generated in a League 1 play off? How many extra fans would we pick up on the way? Even if it's an extra 200 regulars then it adds to the coffers and gives the rest of the fans a massive shot in the arm. Hilly made a big mistake when he looked into the eyes of Matty. He allowed his heart to rule over his head. He should have said "Done, my son, I do want to give you the possibility of a £million fortune, but now is not the time. For the sake of TEAM Rochdale and the hope of getting into the play-offs your chance will come in the summer".

One of the problems was that Father Keith had said this once to Matty before when they were in team Barnsley, and that all fell by the wayside (Palace apparently)

And as much as we like discussing Hill's decision making etc, I cannot ever recall any posts saying his position is under threat during his entire time as manager. That's six and a half years in total without even a random outburst saying "Hill out". Can't think there's another club or manager where this situation exists. |  |

Aye, I've noticed that. You get the odd rant from a few after a defeat, some sail very close to uttering the three letter word beginning with O after his name, but it doesn't happen. Or at least, I haven't seen any.
On our forum at present we've got those who wanted Danny out saying "told you so" etc, and the pro Danny posters suggesting the performances are the same and nothing has changed. It's all very amusing. Thing is, the first lot to get on LJ's back after a few defeats won't be the lads who defended Danny, it'll be the ones who called for his head, Flicker's, Keith's etc etc.
I got bloody tired of reading "stop living in 1997" whenever I suggested we showed faith/patience in the best manager I've known at Oakwell. I'm actually pleased he's gone in some respects. And I'm really impressed with LJ so far. Two wins, two clean sheets, Hourihane back in the middle, Lita shown the door and he comes across as a very clever lad.

I don't really like talking about it but as its been brought up it would be rude not to give an explanation, Notts was the last league club to get beaten away,even the mighty Dale couldn't manage it thanks to a well deserved 95th minute equaliser, if you miss out on the playoffs by two points it could prove to be a very expensive goal...
