The shirt, as a shirt on it's own, is fine. It would work well as an away shirt for someone for example.
But this is a a Watford home kit, and when combined with black shorts AND socks as it will be you have a right mess. Remember our promotion shirt? Too much black on it. Watford have not only got that problem, but compounded it with the shorts and socks. All of a sudden their colours have become black & yellow.
I don't like how they've sidelined red from their colour scheme either and by splashing so much black on the shirt it highlights the issue even more. It's a bit like if we stopped using black in our home kit and added great swathes of white down the sides. If that happened the shirt itself may be perfectly ok, but it doesn't represent the club as well as it could. This applies entirely to the Watford shirt, with one exception for which they may deserve credit: they'll all look like angry Hornets wearing it. If they'd added some red to what is an interesting design, it may have had better results but those who design kits don't often think these things through for long enough. | |

I agree that some alternating black and red might have worked better.
Maybe the Watford players decided they preferred that kit or perhaps the fans voted for it. |  |
