Could anyone who is going provide details for those of us unable attend in this thread please?

It's only fair because I usually take pen and paper to make notes for the rest of you, without a word of thanks*

The 'special' player he's chasing could become available end of August. Hilly says he's at a Championship club and played mostly sub last season? Says he's been ringing/texting every week to check. Who is Hilly mates with in the Championship? And most probably local? I can only think Simon Grayson at Preston?

If Stevie May hadn't done his knee at Christmas, I'd be excited at that suggestion.

Yes it took time to get going and Keith was mute for the 1st 10 minutes - but it slowly got better and was a good night as always. Not many there - but its a bad time with school holidays I guess. He's not happy with how the pitch has (or hasn't taken), says River Humphreys has been a breath of fresh air with his attitude and enthusiasm. Thinks Oxford may be a dark horse out of the promoted clubs, would have played John Stones in the Euro's and astonished Rooney was played centre mid instead of specialist midfielder's (Drinkwater). 1200 season tickets sold. 200 and odd kids ones free (£10). Only 500 or so full adult which shocked me how low. Thinking of shutting Sandy and Pearl st for EFL trophy and just using main stand for home fans (which everyone agreed with).
And finally.............beware of con men.

Stones and Drinkwater. Two of Keith's ex players.

Only 1,200 season tickets sold?

What Keith achieves at your club is frankly ridiculous.

Nice to see he's on my wavelength regards Oxford too. I reckon they'll be promoted, and regardless, they'll be a joy to watch. Some cracking footballers.

I hope he pulls off the miracle of all miracles this time around and gets you promoted.

Good point about the pitch. We noticed v Wigan how it seemed to "crumble" after one tackle. Looked very dry beneath the surface.

Thanks for that. Glad Hilly mentioned the pitch,it looked bloody dangerous during the Wigan game i thought with big chunks of turf coming up.

The ST figures don't surprise me but it's done now. It would have been interesting to know how many adults haven't renewed compared to last years figures and what was their reason for not renewing, although we probably already know.

Get them back next season by coming up with a cheaper Adult and young persons ticket for one of the Stands, it can be done but it needs doing quickly before people get out of the habit and the price needs to be eyecatching.

Anyway,Hilly sounded as though he spoke sense, NML and Hendo have both looked sharp in the friendlies which is a good sign

I wonder if the pitch hasn’t had enough time to root properly. Hornets have played on it twice as well and it seems very dry and crumbly. I fear that it’s going to be very problematic as the season goes on.

Maybe the pitch now drains too well!

Thank you.

Agree...thanks Barty.

The comment about tidying up San Spotty is noted.......on Saturday I must have been one of the first into the Main Stand Toilets (Sandy End) at the Wigan game.....they are terrible!

Stink like Grimsby,,,,,the stainless steel troughs were swilling from the previous Blackburn ( or even the April Swindon game?) ........really poor form.

As mentioned in the Triffids post on the Sandy Lane wall.......poor first impressions.

Must be a big primary school to have 500 kids in it. Usually 7 classes, (one for each year you are there), and 28-32 kids in a class, so about 200 kids would be more accurate.

Some schools are 2 and even 3 form entry so, 400 - 600 kids.

Tbf CG did say that the school holidays had seen an upturn on U11 ST sales so hopefully as the rest of the holidays go on the upturn will continue, he also said that plenty of leaflets had been distributed amongst primary schools in the borough, there's to be on going initiatives throughout the season to attract U11s also. The reason why the £10 STs are advertised as FREE is that the word 'FREE' is eye catching, the standard administration costs were then given as reason for the £10 charge.

I was satisfied with the answer that Mr Dunphy gave to my Stewart Day question!

Why Colin Garlick is wrong :
there are 12 secondary schools in Rochdale
Cardinal Langley 1060 kids on roll
Kingsway 1011
Oulder Hill 1249
Falinge 1170
Matthew Moss 779
St Cuthberts 1027
Hollingworth High 1223
Wardle 1160
Siddal Moor 876
Holy Family 596
Middleton Tech 1080
St Annes 691

total kids = 11922 (over 5 years = 2384 per year group)
so 74 Rochdale primaries are sending 2384 kids to secondary schools in Rochdale, there are also some kids who go to Secondary schools outside Rochdale or other institutions - if we are generous there might be 500 but its probably a huge over-estimate, even so, say 2884 kids leave primary schools each year - there are 7 year groups in primary so 2884 x 7 = 20188 total kids in Primary education in Rochdale schools - the target market for free season tickets -35,000 is a mis-calculation of the number of potential customers by over 40%.

So far they have sold a "free" season ticket to just about 1% of the available market.

Has this "free" ticket offer been sent out to Gold Bond customers to give out? Have all the junior football teams received leaflets?

He mentioned his experience at Barnsley, said wouldn't have changed it and its made him a better manager because of it. Said he hated not having total control of things - something he loves at Dale, fought too many battles and maybe shouldn't have - but felt had something until it all unravelled with injuries to key players and players sold. Ah well - we'd be lost without him.

I thought there were 7 but they class reception as 'reception' rather than '1' and nursery is pre-reception? So 8 inc nursery and reception?

Were season ticket holders who didn't renew contacted by the club, as promised?

The period for selling them isn't over yet so I would imagine it's too early for that. I received a couple of renewal forms which is standard every closed Season. My perception of the Pricing of tickets was that the same old people would be leaned on again to keep handing over the cash, that in itself wouldn't have bothered me that much if I had seen some sort of effort to attract back those supporters who have drifted away and come up with a cheaper ticket for those who can't afford the current prices.

It's as though they don't realise a lot of adults can't/ won't pay the prices they are asking,or if they do then they are just ignoring it. I haven't even mentioned the ST prices for the younger adults. I am really worried about the number of fans who are turning their back on the Club and how the Directors don't seem to have a grasp of the issue and more importantly the long term implications.

Somebody suggested that the Directors seemed happy with the breakdown of Season Ticket Sales for the coming season, if that's the case then Hills comment that there is a disconnection within the Club is spot on.

It's the little things like filthy toilets that haven't been cleaned since the previous game that make you ask how much your support is valued ( I hope to god the ladies toilet wasn't in the same state). Who exactly is responsible for the upkeep of the Stadium because whoever it is obviously isn't doing their job properly. It's our House now so let's at least clean the bloody bogs and cut down the weeds. The whole place needs a bloody rocket up it's arse, we seem to be going backwards.

Jamie Allen has been offered a new contract, which is a far as the club can go.

Aaron Morley is in contention to play in the first team this season. Hill says he has the mentality of on experienced player and that he is well ahead of where he should be in his development.

It was interesting what was said about targeting under 11 season tickets. All schools in the borough were invited to a tournament at the group at which they were given goodie bags including information about season tickets. From what I can remember about a quarter of schools attended. The remaining schools had been sent the information and had received a phone call about the season ticket ticket offer. I suppose what happens with this information is up to the head of the school and what they deem as being important.

I was surprised at how poor the take up had been in this category, although thinking more about it, it is not so much the free/£10 season ticket it is who is going to take them to the games. For many in the borough it is too expensive for adults to attend on a regular basis.

This, to me, is where the policy may well prove to be flawed.
It smacks of pester-power.
"Dad, can you take me to the football ........ it's free"
My guess is there will be lots of families who attend on a spot basis and not regularly anymore, probably targeting the most attractive fixtures.
I suspect the big games may be bigger, but the less attractive fixtures could be tumbleweed games.
Imho, they should have linked a "£10" season ticket (stop calling it free - it costs £10) with an incentive for an accompanying adult to get a nominal reduction on the ST price (but bundle it as one ticket admitting 2 so it isn't open to abuse). Had they done this and not taken away the (£25?) incentive for regular season ticket holders to renew I could see crowds being better this year. As it is, I wouldn't be gob-smacked if there is further attrition in terms of average attendance this season.
Hope I'm wrong.

I think the writing is on the wall right there.

Only when the 2016-17 attendance figures are compared to the 2015-16 numbers will the proof be in the pudding, although I'm sure there will be some "wrong type of snow" or "leaves on the terraces" type excuses contrived posthumously.
