That's the problem with these literary types - they focus too much on the safe and the known.
Rochdale has so much hidden history and character that deserves a much wider audience such as Mundane Frannies Chippy on Well i'th Lane, the Turf Hill Terrors' philanthropic approach to a guaranteed bang for even the most desperate in Nell Rackers, even AFC Rochdale turning out in a new away kit at bury and getting booed onto the pitch by their own fans.
We may not have a PC World or even a friggin' McDonald's in our newly refurbished town centre, but who else can lay claim to the televising of a singing Mayor hosting a civic event for a beaten team, or for partly destroying the ozone layer when attempting to thaw the pitch out when burning out oil drums?
