I can access any programme that's available via the iPlayer app but, as you say, DAB commentary broadcasts are not available via the iPlayer.
I recall a link to a website that enabled you to access DAB broadcasts online. I'll do some digging. | | | |

If you go the the radio manchester website and "listen live", it will probably work, rather than the bbc i player.
Have done this a few times whilst abroad.
Have also used the "tune In" app,outside o fthe uk but this can be hit and miss
Another option is BBC Radio essex, but this will a southen biased commentry

I can't find a suitable link at the moment but I'm sure there must be one out there somewhere.
Anyhow, I Googled 'Southend v Rochdale live stream' and several options came up in the results. You might need to use a VPN if restricted against UK users but worth a look if you're so minded. [Post edited 14 Jan 2017 14:42]
