Chesterfield away
at 11:34 24 Mar 2017

Begrudgingly I will start this as I noticed something which went under the radar which didn't really deserve its own thread and so I thought I would shoehorn it in here, yet no-one had already started talking about the game tomorrow!

Anyway, anyone else actually notice that Steve Eyre joined Chesterfield as a coach at the end of last month? I only saw when I stumbled on his comments on the Chesterfield website's match preview, and they still seem as bland an unincisive as ever!

Chesterfield coach, Steve Eyre is expecting a tough game at the Proact, but says that it’s one the squad are relishing. “It’ll be a really competitive game, but we’re looking forward to it and we’ve had a good week’s preparation.” He said.

“We know that they’ve had a game in the week, both the manager and I went to watch, and having seen them a lot this season they play a very committed, fast and front foot style of football. They have a good manager, a talisman player in Ian Henderson and they have goals throughout the team. We expect them to come at us as they try to win every game they play.”

I mean, fancy that - we are a team who actually try to win games according to Steve! Perhaps he thinks Chesterfield's tactics are that they don't try to win games, in which case they are having a very successful season

Player incoming....
at 13:03 27 Jan 2017

Just had the Hill interview playing in the background and he mentions (about 8mins 30s) "I believe I've got another player coming in today, which I believe will make us stronger..."

Another potential academy graduate?
at 10:44 22 Nov 2016

I see on the OS the academy coaches of Chris Brown and Lee Riley have both got their A licences now, for which we should congratulate them. It's great to see two young coaches learning their trade at Dale and being developed, which is good both for them and their players.

I don't know much about Lee, but from what I know and remember about Chris could he actually be a future Dale manager in the making? He's been at Dale for nearly all his career - an academy graduate himself who was a pro at the club, although he didn't really make it as a player in the game. From talking to him at this time he seemed very knowledgeable and astute at that time even if he wasn't blessed with with perhaps the physicality to progress in the pro game as a player. He now seems to be doing a good job with the academy in his role there (along with the rest of the team he works with and under).

So whilst I'm in no hurry to move on from Hill, it is good to see that we have people in place to continue what has been started and that coaches have the chance to move up too. I'm also not saying he should be the next manager, or even the one after that - there are other better suited candidates in the club at the moment to take over from within as and when Hill goes. It just saying I wouldn't be surprised if he rose through the levels over time.
