at 10:21 8 Apr 2016

Come along to the Spotland Social Club pre match against Blackpool where, not only will you be able to watch the football but you will be able to listen to banging 60's, 70's, 80's + early 90s music played by 'Jim' on the decks.

We will be holding a raffle of some decent prizes and there may also be an auction of some Euro 2016 tickets if anyone is interested. Please come along and help us to raise some money for this worthy cause and help Rochdale Football Club contribute to the Football League Charity.

If you cannot make it please donate to the Team Rochdale Just Giving Page or just contact Pete or Simon and we will register your donation on the sponsor form.

Studds Bar at Half Time
at 20:16 25 Nov 2013

Dont really want to post something negative with on field results going so well, but need to have a whinge about something.

Went to Studds at 3.40 on Saturday. Was served at 3.57. Many people got fed up and ended up not bothering, with one bloke saying "dont have my money then". This is the longest ive waited (in any bar, ever!) But theres always a long wait.

We have 15 minutes to maximise revenue. It doesn't help with so many people intentionally queue jumping, but when theres no system then this is always going to happen. Cant be difficult to set up a roped queuing area? Would anyone mind if pints were pre poured? They know (or should know) how many Bitter/Lager/Ciders are sold per match and could have an amount ready for the half time rush.

This isn't a personal attack on any of the bar staff. Just think were losing a good amount of money per match and not offering as good of a match day experience as we could.

Eyre Out!
at 16:13 6 Nov 2011

Didnt know which one of the many threads to add this to so thought i'd may aswell start another one.

Eyre simply HAS to go, and go now. I'll make this clear. I am absoloutly not under any illusions that we have any right to even be in this division, let alone finish anywhere near the outstanding 9th place finish last seeason. I know our budget will be amongst the lowest and probably the lowest, and I know we've lost a lot of good players.

What I do expect however, and i'd expect any Dale side to do against any calibre of oppostion, is the following:

- For all players to give 100% effort - this is undeniably not happening for a number of players, most notably the undroppable and unsubbable Ashley Grimes. What we are watching nearly every game is the players going through the motions.

- For us after 17 league games, to have some sort of system that the players look comfortable in, that they look like they understand. We started yesterdays game with a 5 man midfield and I'm not sure Tutte, JK, Jones and BBM know themselves which roll they are meant to be playing.

- For mistakes that have been happening since pre season friendly number 1 to have been ironed out by League One fixture 17. We still cant defend. 8 players have played in defence this season - are they all unable to defend or are they not being coached right?

After seeing every game under Eyre, we are not improving. The body language of the players is worrying me the most. There is no confidence, they are not being inspired by the management team, and neither are they being coached properly. Teams are quite often molded in the image of there manager, and this one is clueless!

With hindsight I'm sure Dunphy realises he's made a mistake. There is no risk in sacking a manager and saying it might not get better because it simply cannot get any worse!

EYRE OUT!

Attendance last night
at 23:31 14 Sep 2011

Dread to think what the attendance would have been like had City and Utd played last night instead of tonight. Less than 2000 Daleys there last night. We have to do something proactive to increase attendances otherwise the O'Grady money disappears from the managers budget into a black hole. Here's some suggestions...

Special offer on a league game and make the offer available to pay on the gate...
Give out free kids tickets and even some adult ones in town centre on some match days....
Advertise passport to leisure and family tickets in strategic places...

The last one we should be advertising til people are sick of hearing it. The town has massive unemployment figures and there may be some who think they are priced out of going to a game but i'd guess not many of our regular fans know if you quality for a passport to leisure card you can get a ticket for as little as a tenner. With a bit of thought and effort we could have a great bit of PR out of it, a boat that sailed by when we were awarded cheapest day out in the league based on PTL card holders/consession price!

Or do nothing and we'll sell another player for peanuts and not replace them!

Hornets attempt to fill Spotland
at 16:28 10 Jul 2011

Resulted in an attendance of 1022 according to a few people on Twitter. Not gloating, but it does show how out of touch and deluded they are that they thought they could get 10,000. Interested to know how many were away fans, but im not sure that its segregated so guess theres no way of knowing. A shame if only as the majority of income was going to charity, and I imagine Hornets made a loss overall.

Accy fans tonight
at 23:56 20 May 2011

Went to Accy v Stevenage tonight, and lets get this out of the way - the match was awful, the pitch almost as bad, and both teams completely devoid of any real talent.

4 of us who go to every Dale game, and think we've seen some atmosphere at Spotland, all looked at each other as we walked out and went "fooking hell!!". They just did not stop singing. Not just a few at the back of the stand, but pretty much the whole stand. And call it tinpot if you like, but they had two drummers keeping it going and a catalogue of songs that was seemingly never ending. They stayed well after the final whistle too, the stands decked in Accy red and white everywhere, and something we all noticed was a lot of kids there too. I know its unlikely to be like that on a Tuesday night against Burton Albion but I can see why kids would want to go back to that, as apose to Spotland where even this season the atmosphere has been pretty dreadful at times.

It was arguably their biggest game in recent history, 2-0 down from the first leg, but it was as if it was a Premier League title celebration party. The 3rd goal went in mid song and there wasnt a dip in volume. Unrelenting support and the only negativity was reserved for the referee, who quite rightly sent off an Accy player for a terrible looking tackle (didnt see what led to the 2nd red) but gave every other 50-50 decision Stevenage's way. Also gave a corner when the ball went out at least 10 yards up the pitch!

We can argue all day long about the Sandy Lane v Pearl Street, but until we as fans adopt the mentality of the Accrington Ultras (granted, they could have chosen a much better name, if they need a name at all) then the atmosphere at Dale will always be rubbish.

Whoevers Barmy Army next season, sing it loud and proud!!
