2009-10 starts now Wednesday, 1st Jul 2009 06:09 July 1st is traditionally viewed as the start of the new Football season and this year is no different. For our lads, it means a return to the club to get into shape for the forthcoming campaign. Today is the day that the players return to Spotland after their Summer break. For the players, there'll be a day or two of training before heading out to Marbella for the now annual pre-season trip to the Continent. Over there, they will be playing Peterborough United as part of the preparations mirroring last season's build up.
July 1st is also the first day following the expiry of players' contracts. Thankfully at Spotland, all of our players are contracted for the forthcoming season meaning unlike many teams, there won't be a cloud of uncertainty hanging over pre-season preparations.
Also, it means that there are many players that are now available to sign. However, Dale manager Keith Hill has suggested that he is happy with his squad for the season and changes made now will only be minor ones. As it stands, we make it that the current squad looks like this:
