Club captain Peter Cavanagh was the main name on the club's released list that was published on Wednesday.

Cavanagh was released after two years at Spotland following the expiry of his contract. His time at the club didn't have the best of starts, but he earned a massive amount of respect from the supporters for the defensive midfield role that he made his own - backed up by the well publicised figures about how many goals we conceded with Cav on the pitch. And of course, he will go down as only the third Dale captain to gain us promotion.

The club have taken up one year options on Joe Rafferty, Rhys Bennett and Bastien Hery after successful seasons with the club, and negotiations over new contracts are taking place with Josh Lillis and Matty Done. Dale boss Keith Hill has stated that he is keen for this to be resolved in the next fortnight to allow planning for 2014-15 to take place.

George Donnelly is another player with an option for a further twelve months at the club, but the club are in talks with him about his future.

Others that have bee released include Reece Gray, Robbie Thompson, George Porter, Craig Lynch and Godwin Adabaki.

From the youth ranks, midfielder Andy Cannon has been rewarded with a professional contract, whilst the club have let go Danny Whitehall, Aaron Ashley, Shaquille Antoine Clarke, Jack Horan, Connor Martin and Dimitri Tuanzebe.
