Coleman back in football Saturday, 21st Jun 2014 17:42 by Col Former Dale manager John Coleman is back in football after being appointed as the new manager of Sligo Rovers. Coleman left Southport in the Summer after successfully keeping them in the Conference, with his touchline behaviour cited as a reason for his departure which will have come as no surprise to Dale supporters. He had been red hot favourite to take over at Tranmere a few weeks ago, before Rovers opted to employ Exeter assistant Rob Edwards. In taking over as manager of Sligo, Coleman replaces former Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough was sacked on Friday after they were knocked out of the FAI Cup and were in a disappointing fifth place in the Irish Premier League. Unsurprisingly, Coleman will be joined at Sligo by his old sidekick Jimmy Bell. Upon his appointment, Coleman told the official Sligo website: “I feel I will bring passion, good coaching, organisation and a style and ethos to play on the front foot that I hope the fans will enjoy. I’ve worked with Jimmy for many years, we’ve known each other for a long time and I believe we make a great partnership."
