O'Connell returns to Blackburn
Wednesday, 31st Dec 2014 09:00 by Col

Following the end of his loan deal, Jack O'Connell has returned to Blackburn.

Whilst media reports have suggested that O'Connell was recalled by Rovers, it has simply been the loan deal coming to a close that has lead to O'Connell's return to Ewood Park.

O'Connell made seventeen league appearances for Dale, with three goals. He made two further appearances in the JPT, but wasn't allowed to play in the FA Cup by Blackburn.

It would appear unlikely that there will be a third spell for O'Connell at Spotland. Keith Hill all but admitted to stalking Rovers manager Gary Bowyer to secure the current deal, and with financial issues at Blackburn resulting in a transfer ban, it would appear that O'Connell will be part of Bowyer's first team plans for the new year.

However, it is expected that Keith Hill will look to add to his defence in the transfer window.
