The familiar figure of referee Darren Drysdale will take charge of Dale’s trip to Blackpool on Saturday.

Darren most recently refereed the home friendly against MK Dons, while at the back end of last season he was at Spotland for the 1-0 defeat of Leyton Orient.

In our 2013/14 promotion campaign, the Lincolnshire official was in the middle for the televised 0-0 draw at Bury and the 2-0 home win over Bristol Rovers, a game in which Dale played in their white away kit as Rovers turned up with purple and black stripes.

Mr Drysdale, who is in the RAF, is in his 11th season on the referees’ list and you have to go back to October 2004 for his first Dale appointment - a 3-0 home win over Macclesfield.

Twelve months later he was in the middle for our 3-2 victory at Chester in which Matt Gilks was rather fortunate to avoid a red card after his early collision with home striker Greg Blundell.
