Refwatch: Dale v Swindon
Thursday, 5th Nov 2015 20:57 by TVOS

Chris Sarginson will make his fourth visit to Spotland as a referee when he takes charge of Saturday’s FA Cup first round tie against Swindon Town.

The Staffordshire official last made the trip up the M6 in March for our 3-1 defeat of Scunthorpe, while his previous game was the 0-0 draw with Yeovil in December 2011 which spelled the end of Steve Eyre’s time as Dale boss.

He was also at Spotland in February 2010 for a 3-1 midweek defeat to Bradford which put a temporary halt to Dale’s promotion charge.

We have met Chris on the road on several other occasions and Saturday will be his ninth Dale appointment.

The most recent of those was in November 2013 at Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, where Dale were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline.

Chris’s full list of Dale games is:

Oct 08 Lincoln (a), D 1-1

Feb 09 Macclesfield (a), W 1-0

Aug 09 Sheffield Wed (a, LC), L 0-3

Feb 10 Bradford (h), L 1-3

Dec 11 Yeovil (h), D 0-0

Feb 13 Barnet (a), D 0-0

Nov 13 Chesterfield (a, JPT), L 0-3

Mar 15 Scunthorpe (h), W 3-1

This season he has refereed 11 games, showing 35 yellow cards. His most recent fixture was Yeovil v Cambridge in League Two a fortnight ago, while back in August he was in the middle for Swindon’s 2-0 home loss to Sheffield United.
