Alessandra stays at York
Tuesday, 12th Apr 2016 09:20 by Col

This season's forgotten man Lewis Alessandra will see out the remainder of the 2015-16 season on loan at relegation threatened York City.

Alessandra joined the Minstermen on loan last month, and got off to a flying start with a goal on his debut. He's made five further appearances since then, and he's done enough to be signed up for their remaining five games.

He's done well with the Yorkshire club, and the news that he has extended his deal has gone down well with the York supporters, with many feeling that had he arrived earlier, they may have stood a chance to stay up.

Comments on the York Press website have included: I cannot believe this guy cannot get a game with his own club - he is a class act! Since the day he arrived Lewis has lifted the gloom and it has been a long time since we have seen a player with his abiity in our colours. I do hope that if it is at all possible to keep him we should make every effort to do so.

The former Plymouth frontman, who has twelve months remaining on his contract at Spotland, has not featured for the Dale first team since a late appearance off the bench against Millwall in February. That is just one of eleven appearances since last Summer's switch to Spotland.

York face a tall order in their battle to stay up as they trail Stevenage by nine points with just the aforementioned five games to go.
