On the eve of the season, Dale have announced that a record sponsorship deal has been made that will see the naming rights of Spotland awarded to shirt sponsors Crown Oil.

So it's goodbye to Spotland and hello to the Crown Oil Arena as the ground will be known from now on, after a record breaking six figure sponsorship deal was agreed that will incorporate the naming rights and shirt sponsorship.

Work is expected to take place in the next few weeks changing the signage around the ground, and also in the corporate areas of the ground as the club looks to present itself as the premier venue within the borough of Rochdale.

This is something that the club have been looking into since acquiring full ownership of the ground earlier this year.
