Dale head to Grimsby
Friday, 15th Jun 2018 18:16 by Col

it's a trip to Grimsby in the first round of the League Cup after we were handed an away tie in a draw taking place in Vietnam.

After last year's first round draw took place in Bangkok, the EFL expenses cards made their way to Vietnam as the first round of the Carabao Cup continued its tour of the Far East. At least there wasn't the repeat of last season's farce which saw Charlton drawn out twice, delays and the draw crashing midway through.

This year's was relatively trouble free, and Dale were handed a trip to Grimsby on what is expected to take place on Tuesday 14th August. This will be Dale's first trip to Blundell Park since goals from Adam Rundle and Chris O'Grady gave Dale a 2-0 victory in October 2009.

Without tempting fate, Grimsby have been good opponents for Dale in recent years with Dale winning ten out of the last twelve encounters with the Mariners with the other two games ending as draws.
