Refwatch: Dale v Coventry
Friday, 21st Feb 2020 21:43 by TVOS

Experienced referee Chris Sarginson is the referee for Dale’s home game against Coventry on Saturday.

Mr Sarginson is in his 12th season on the league list and Saturday will be his 17th Dale appointment and the second in just over two months, as he was also the man in the middle for our 1-0 win at Rotherham in December.

Chris had taken charge of two other Dale matches in 2019 — the 1-0 victory at Accrington, in which Ollie Rathbone scored the only goal of the game, and the 5-1 thrashing at Plymouth on this weekend 12 months ago.

Fans will remember Ethan Ebanks-Landell was sent-off in that match, but in 2016/17, Sarginson dismissed THREE Dale players in two games!

Callum Camps was sent-off for two yellow cards against AFC Wimbledon at the Crown Oil Arena, while Joe Rafferty and Donal McDermott saw red in a 3-1 reverse at Peterborough later in the campaign.

Chris’s full list of Dale games is:

Oct 08 Lincoln (a), D 1-1
Feb 09 Macclesfield (a), W 1-0
Aug 09 Sheffield Wed (a, LC), L 0-3
Feb 10 Bradford (h), L 1-3
Dec 11 Yeovil (h), D 0-0
Feb 13 Barnet (a), D 0-0
Nov 13 Chesterfield (a, JPT), L 0-3
Mar 15 Scunthorpe (h), W 3-1
Nov 15 Swindon (h, FAC), W 3-1
Aug 16 AFC Wimbledon (h), D 1-1
Feb 17 Peterborough (a), L 1-3
Sep 17 AFC Wimbledon (a), D 0-0
Feb 18 Bristol R (a), L 2-3
Feb 19 Plymouth (a), L 1-5
Apr 19 Accrington (a), W 1-0
Dec 19 Rotherham (a), W 1-0

So far this season, Mr Sarginson has refereed 25 matches, showing 65 yellow cards and one red. His most recent appointment was Portsmouth v Sunderland three weeks ago.
