Race Night for Ernie Cooksey
Race Night for Ernie Cooksey
Monday, 21st Apr 2008 06:06

A race night is being held to raise money for former Dale player Ernie Cooksey. It will take place in the Dale Bar on Saturday 24th May.

Ernie Cooksey has recently found out he is suffering from a form of Cancer known as Malignant Melanoma.

When melanoma has spread around the body it is known as stage 4 or metastatic melanoma. Unfortunately stage 4 disease is notoriously difficult to treat.

At the Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Paul Lorigan (who has already treated Ernie and will be treating him again soon) and the Melanoma Team, are working very hard to develop treatments which will improve the outcome of patients with metastatic melanoma.

A number of fund raising activities are already in place, with the highlight up North being a Oldham / Rochdale XI taking on a John Sheridan XI at Boundary Park on Sunday 11th May, with Grant Holt and Rickie Lambert taking part on behalf of Dale.

More details will be released in the next few days with regards to the Cooksey race night, but tickets will cost £5 each and should be available within the next few days.
