Goalkeeper Lillis is in his third spell at Rochdale, having previously had two loan periods at the club.

His first spell lasted approximately one day, as an emergency loan saw him drafted in for the 4-0 away victory at Bournemouth, whilst his second spell saw a six month loan deal for the first half of the promotion season.

Following his release by Scunthorpe in the Summer of 2012, Dale boss John Coleman had no hesitation in bringing Lillis back, this time doing so on a permanent basis with the young keeper signing a two year deal.

Lillis' Dad Mark was a former footballer, notably at Man City, before becoming involved in the coaching side with spells as manager at Halifax and assistant manager for Northern Ireland and Morecambe. He was also once linked with the Dale manager's job.
