I believe the police have told landlords to shut their pubs tommorow, is this just in the area around the ground/bury rd?

Was wondering the same.

Dale Bar presumably shut? Where's the news on this?

Lets just have loads of disgruntled fans milling about, eh?

Havent heard anything from our end really just bury fans stating thats what they have been told. I drink in town pre match normally anyway butvwas wondering if those pubs in the centre had been told to close aswell.

Drink in bury and then get the 469 to the game.

Just an idea like.

Can't believe they close all the pubs for what on a grand scheme of things is a tiny derby compared with most up and down the country!!!Can the police not handle a few tools from either side,do they shut the whole of Manchester when city and united play?Is this the same police force that turned up 20 mins after all the trouble against Hartlepool had all calmed down,i remember many times having a pint right outside burys ground in the return fixture?Absolutely ridiculous

It might be just gubbins hopefully but it would be nice to be told if it was to happen.

Edit- looks like town centre pubs are open as just asked landlord of the one we go in and hes open.

Not sure where I read this but I'm sure police are allowed to close pubs within a 2 mile radius of the ground, but not beyond that.

I imagine town centre is within this distance, but I cannot ever recall the town centre being closed prior to match day?

Forget the inconvenience, as long is makes the police's life easier, that's all that matters.

I think your spot on.

The thing with GMP is, they will want it to kick off, because then they go running to the club and say 'you need us, you have a major hooligan problem blah blah'

No doubt people will get arrested for swearing, drunk and disordely etc, even though the nature of the offence is petty, GMP will use the stats of arrests to try con the clubs there is serious trouble.

I think out of all the derby games in the country (not Derby FC ;) ) Rochdale and Bury is one of the more peaceful ones.

Look at the Bristols, the Preston v Blackpool game, Bolton/Burnley/Blackburn/Wigan etc etc the list goes on, we are goldfish compared to the mentioned.

Dont be surprised though if theres a headline in the papers and GMP statement saying this and that has happend though, anybody with a brain knows how they work.

Hopefully someone with a bit of common sense at the club also knows so we dont get stung on massive fees.

Poll: Bottomley...

To be perfectly honest trueblue I think where pubs are concerned, especially on match day, it's pretty much a case of "we're the police and we do what we want!"

I believe all pubs in Norden have been either forced or 'advised' to close, other than that I don't think any pubs will be shut, Spotland social might be a bit of hassle to get into as well unless your a regular, or can prove you're a dale fan.

Days like this one weren't supposed to happen to Rochdale.

Horse and Farrier has decided to shut of its own accord, the other pubs in Norden haven't had any contact from the police.

Personally thinks its a sad state of affairs when pubs have to shut and loose precious takings all because a few K--B Heads.
