Or is it? Personally I don’t think this is right.
It’s been said many times on this forum that all that matters is the result and how we get the result doesn’t really matter. Getting the job done is another way of saying the same thing. Now, I kind of get this but only up to a point. Supporters want to see the win of course they do but we want to see a good performance as well. We want to be entertained. We want to see quick, crisp passing. We want to see creativity and we want to see us putting real pressure on the opposition.
We get this occasionally at the moment but overwhelmingly we see long periods of ponderous possession that bore the f*uck out of me and yes we’ve been getting the results (mostly) but I come away from a win a bit frustrated and deflated sometimes. It’s not the sort of football that’s going inspire the kids and make them want to support the Saints. We’ve had some great teams in the past where you come away from a game we’ve lost but thinking “that was a great game and we played really well”. I would argue that, for the most part, this is preferable to a dull win.
Russ - you got to address this mate. Especially if we’re going to be a reasonable side in the prem. In the prem we’re just going get swamped if we invite teams on to us.
Massive possession counts for not very much I would say. |

Thread | Away fans in home areas

I’ve seen so many moans about away fans in home areas I’m starting to get sick of it. You can do something about it. All of us want St Mary’s to be an intimidating place the for the opposition. This applies to both away teams and fans. We can make it tough for teams with our singing and shouting to create an atmosphere. We can make it impossible for away fans in home areas by calling them out, giving them dogs abuse and alerting stewards.
Are you men or mice? Take action and do something about it instead of sitting on your hands and moaning on a fans board. It doesn’t happen at Milwall and lots of clubs whose fans just won’t put up with it. Make Saints one if them. Make away fans think ‘I’m not going in a home area at St Mary’s it’s not worth it.
St Mary’s is our place to defend. Defend it FFS. |

One thing I find quite remarkable about this shambles is the docile fan base. The fans should have been ripping the seats out of St Mary’s and storming the offices. But no. There’s a few angry posts on fans boards and everybody goes home for a nice cup of tea. You get the club you deserve and unless the fans do something about this shit show, the club will get away with it. Everton showed how it’s done a couple of weeks ago.
I’m in my 60s and played my part during the Branford and Wrigley days. Now it’s over to the youngster’s to do what’s right. Get off your f*ucking a*rses and do something about it or see our club go to the dogs. The first job is to terrify the club into action and only action from the fans is going to wake the club up.

Listening to the FA, UEFA, FIFA, politicians etc bleeting on about the Super League (not that this will happen) makes me sick. Football is already broken. The big 6 already have an unfair advantage over everyone else. The big six are already as greedy as f*uck and couldn’t care less about anything but their own bank balances. The Prem isn’t very competitive. Other clubs break into the the top 6 from time to time but they’re generally the exceptions that prove the rule.
The bleeters are all hypocrites who just jumped on the populist bandwagon.
Give me a league with half the money in it but that is genuinely competitive any day. The big six can go f*uck themselves.

Would be good to get circa 5k up there. I think it could make a difference to the team and the performance if we had a good turnout. They respond to us. Even at £25 it's not a massive amount, its close and we stand a good chance of winning. I'm going to make an effort and come over from Jersey and I think people should go if they possibly can.

Clearly doesn’t have any cash as he had to borrow to buy the club. Hasn’t said anything of any note since his arrival. Doesn’t even turn up to every game (or even most games?). What a waste of f*ucking time he is (and the same can be said about his daughter Nelly). I’m doubting K went for a carefully selected owner who was the best fit for the club.
