Brentford are struggling ahead of the clash with Saints

Striker Gary Alexander has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.The 31-year-old, who has hit 9  league goals for the Bee's this season, has missed the last three weeks and now the final two games.

The Bees are also struggling with injuries with keeper Richard Lee, centre-half Pim Balkestein and joint leadng league goals forward Charlie MacDonald all ruled out for the season.

This leaves Brentford woefully short of firepower up front reflected in their poor home scoring record only having netted 24 at home in the league all season although at the other end they have conceded only 25, with the abscence of their two main men the best they can put out is Robbie Simpson who has only netted four league goals and only one of those in the last three months or jeffrey Schlupp on loan from leicester who has again netted four times in seven games since arriving five weeks ago, one face that we might recognise is Nicolas Bignall who spent a month at SMS earlier in the season but seems to be out of favour at griffin Park in recent weeks.

Defenders Craig Woodman, Leon Legge and Karleigh Osbourne are all doubts for the last two games as well.with Osbourne being taken to hospital on Monday after being struck in the face by the ball.

Also, we didn't do so well against Plymouth home, Rochdale away, Rochdale home or Brentford home. Too many points thrown away this season, I'm afraid. SfS.

bstokesaint added 12:58 - Apr 27 Put quite simply I am getting quite fed up with predicting Saints results. I thought we'd beat Carlise, Rochdale, Walsall, etc, etc and we didn't. Then I was amazed to see us come from behind to beat both Bournemouth and Brighton and show our real class. We now have a classic matchplay golf situation where we are head to head with Huddersfield. We must assume they will win their remaining games and we must do the same. For what it's worth I think Huddersfield will beat a lacklustre Brighton side, who even before their promotion status was assured, have struggled against the better sides in the division (Huddersfield previously, the MK Dons, Bournemouth and ourselves). Gone also is their proud unbeaten home record. If Brentford have the injury worries as reported above then they should be there for the taking (even more so it would probably be more accurate to say). I do not want to have check for updates on my mobile from Spain this weekend to see we've blown yet another golden opportunity! Let's at least give ourselves the opportunity to get promoted on Monday and have two bites at that cherry. COYR.

1962saint added 14:57 - Apr 27 An often repeated comment posted on this site is that Saints have thrown away too many points. Well we haven’t thrown away too many as we currently have 83 points! Yes it’s disappointing that we don’t win every match but which team does? All supporters can look at points thrown away. Even Man Utd, who look certain to win the Premier League, have drawn 9 away games and therefore ‘thrown away’ 18 points. Look at the records of Saints and Huddersfield since we were the last team to beat them on December 28. After that win (4-1) we were one point behind them with a game in hand. They haven’t lost since yet we have lost 3 times but we are now level on points still with a game in hand. The reason for this is that Huddersfield have thrown away lots of points with home draws including 0-0 against relegated Swindon last month. In the same period Saints have a home record of 9 wins and 1 draw. So let’s look at the positives of points gained not those thrown away.
