All the info for our first ever trip to the Cardiff City Stadium.

If you have been to Ninian Park then you should be able to find the CCS easily as its only about 200 metres from the old ground basically on the old car park that was situated behind the main stand at Ninian Park.

Getting There

By Car

Take the A34 up to the M4 at Newbury and then head west towards Swindon & Bristol, keep going on the M4 signposted towards Wales and use the Severn Bridge crossing, dont forget that this is a toll bridge so have some change handy.

Once in Wales keep on the M4 until you arrive at Junction 33, exit here and head towards Cardiff /Barry on the A4232, leve this road at the B4267 exit and follow signs to Cardiff International Athletics Stadium, it may also have signs to the CCS, pass the CIAS and the CCS is on your right.

Parking.

There is an away car park at the ground that can hold a decent number of cars and coaches and this should be sufficient for our following on an evening game, it is advisable to park here if you can, surrounding streets have parking restrictions you should be mindful of and the nearby retail parks also enforce a strict 90 minutes rule.

By Train

Cardiff Central is about a 20 minute walk away or you can get a local train from there to Ninian Park which is about 5-10 mins walk.

The Away Section

This is situated in the corner of the ground between the Ninian & Grange stands ( all the stands are named after the stands at the old Ninian Park) the concourses as you might suspect are spacious and have TV screens as well as the usual bars etc.

As some will know from previous vsits to Cardiff, its not a welcoming place probably due to the Welsh/English thing so the atmosphere inside the stadium will be hostile. They do have no mans land between the home fans on both sides and outside the ground there is a fenced compound so that those on the coaches or who park there can stay safely in this area.

Eating Drinking Etc

The away section has a good selction of food and drink etc as well as alcohol and is a million miles away that the old shed that used to constitute the away end snack bar at Ninian Park, its probably best for those that like to wear colours to eat and drink in here rather than venture out into the local hostelries.

There arent that many bars near to the ground and the few that are are packed with home supporters who if they didnt like Southampton definately dont like the English. The Canton Rugby Club on Lawrenny Avenue (postcode CF11 8BP welcomes football supporters on match days and has free parking, its about a ten minute walk from the ground.
