Saints go to Selhurst Park on an urgent note

Saints travel to Crystal Palace with the club seemingly in tatters both on and off the field, unable to find consistency the defeat to Norwich seemed to end the last lingering hopes that we might make the play offs, confirmed by the loaning out of Rudi Skacel and Gregorz Rasiak, the fact that they appear to be our only saleable assets at present apart from perhaps John Viafara is made evn more sad by the fact that all three have one thing in common, they have only appeared sporadically this season for some reason that only George Burley knew.

On paper the trip to South London only looks to have one ending and that is a heavy defeat, but like last season perhaps in our darkest hour some of our players that have been overlooked will step up to the plate as happened at the tail end of last season.

In this I specifically mean David McGoldrick and Adam Lallana, like Leon Best last term they are way out of the picture, their progress blocked by several players who quite frankly havent put a run of constent games left and never look likely to, can these two come in and show the heart needed that although isnt likely to blast Saints into the play offs like last year, will at least make sure that we dont get dragged into a relegation scuffle.

To be fair we shouldnt miss rasiak or Skacel too much, if only for the fact that neither has been played with too much regularity this season.

Its now down to Gorman and Dodd to show they have what it takes to motivate the squad and put out the best side, a scrappy win over Bury and the defeat against Norwich has left the Jury out on this at present, but the next few games will be crucial, a point at Palace would be a good one and keep us heading in the right direction, a defeat whilst not too damaging at this time will leave us looking over our shoulders.

Key man could be Marek Saganowski, back in the squad we all know what he did last year and we need him to do it this, but Gorman & Dodd have to pick the right players we have had too much under Burley of players out of position and we had it again on Tuesday, specifically BWP.

Saints can get something at Palace but what they need most is a confidence boost rather points.
