Come Back Saints
Come Back Saints

Chris Newman evokes the spirit of the Trenches with a revamping of the old tune "Goodbye Dolly Gray"

Dear old Echo please don't grieve us You can't, stick your neck out, it is so I know you never would deceive us .... but we're wary, of "The Lowe"

Again you can't tell us who is bidding ....to take our club by the throat Though most fans might like to grab old Rupert's (chorus) Will he ever, entirely go?

Surely one of those who's bidding, have to have a Rupert link? This will have to be prevented, ....otherwise we're right back down the sink

What we need is worthy people ....perhaps old Santa Claus For, Saints fans dreams are often shattered (chorus) cluttered with high balls

Will the Saints - ever be free of The grasping, greedy money men Those who put ego and self interest (chorus) above us ordinary men

Saints fans I really feel so really sorry, if you've never known that phase Of Ted, Terry, Mick and Tiz and Lawrie (chorus) Oh, those were the days

So say your prayers for dear Southampton Though my heart still fairly aches Remember the 9-3's and those comebacks (chorus) and winning with just nine men ( v Derby County)

We all went to Wembley, then to Cardiff ... then to Relegation Lane - Me, I had, enough, a little while back (chorus) so you'll find me at The Silverlake

(middle eight) Come back Saints, back to the people, who helped to make you oh so bright

Come back once more to the fans... who just aint been treated right

Come back again and play some football ... of the Southampton type We all want the fans to have their club back (chorus) the last few years aren't right.

Then we will sing of Glory, Glory, and love Southampton 'til you die Then the club will go on thriving .... selling those trackies and ties, Shirts and scarves and also beanies (chorus) plus those burgers and pies

Once more real pride in those red stripes Would be a fine sight for sore eyes Let's not all forget the tickets .... get the people in Pack the now too empty rafters (chorus) not selling many it's a sin

Come on all you new investors, prove you have just what it takes So someone make the club what what it once ....whatever league we're in Remember Wayman,Stokes and Ronnie Davies (chorus) "When The Saints Came Marching In"
