Adam Lallana Nominated For PFA Player Of The Year
Friday, 18th Apr 2014 16:12

Saints very own Adam Lallana has been nominated by his fellow professioals for their highest award the PFA Player of the Year.

Lallana is in illustrious company, also nominated at the Liverpool trio of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge and the shortlist of six is completed by Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Chelsea's Eden Hazard.

I would say that Adam is the outsider of the six and given the form of Luis Suarez I would say that the vote wont go much beyond the Urguayan, however you never know and the Liverpool vote could be split with Steven Gerrard having a stunning season also and if tactical voting happens, Lallana could just sneak in on the rails.

If Adam was to win it though he would be the second player in the Clubs history to have won it, the only other player was Kevin Keegan in 1981/82 when Saints had the distinction of having their players winning both player and young player of the year, Steve Moran winning the latter.

In terms of the history of the award, Saints are one of only fourteen clubs whose players have been PFA player of the year in the 40n years of the competition, if Adam was to make it the second success then we would be only the 8th club to have more than one win.

Whatever happens though its a great honour for Adam to be nominated and a great honour for the club also.
