Dusan Tadic Could Be Arriving At St Mary's ! But Who Is He ?
Wednesday, 2nd Jul 2014 09:09

According to reports in Holland FC Twente's Dusan Tadic is about to leave the Eridivisie and head for the Premier League with Saints.

Dutch media reports say that the deal between FC Twente and Saints has already been done with the fee varying between £9 million and £12 million depending on which media source you read.

Most Saints supporters know very little about the Serbian, so lets take a look at his career so far.

Tadic looks on paper to be the ideal replacement for Adam Lallana, an attacking midfield player who can play in several positions, primarily as a left sided wide man although he can also play centrally or as a striker, last season he was fourth top scorer in Holland with 16 goals as well as having 14 assists to his name, Ronald Koeman certainly knows a lot about him as Tadic scored twice as FC Twente drubbed Feyenoord 4-1.

As a player, like Lallana Tadic is known for his dribbling skills and is of a similar age being 25 and turning 26 in November, after starting his career in his home country he left for the Netherlands in 2010 signing for Groningen a shade over £1 million.

His success there led to a move to Twente for a little over £7 million and in his two seasons with the club he has scored 28 league goals in 66 games, a very respectable tally.

Tadic has been a member of the Serbian national squad since the age of 19, however it was not until 2011 that he really started to be a regular and he now has played 25 times for his country and scored 6 goals.

On the face of it Tadic has the kind of track record that we would be looking for in any incoming players to St Mary's, now as we have found in the past track records are often no guide to the actual skills level of the players, in the past we have often got burned when buying in so called international players who have supposedly flourished in other leagues, but you would hope that in this case Ronald Koeman would know a little bit more about the player and more to the point having seen him in action in Holland would be able to compare him to the standards he has experienced in other leagues namely Italy and Spain.

So from what I have seen Tadic is a player who if he arrives could be an exciting signing, the key to Saints repeating the success of next season will be to effectively replace those players that have gone without a loss of quality, if we can do that and still have money to spent then we can improve the squad in other areas as well, in this case this looks to be something that can happen.
