Schneiderlin's Saints Journey Destroyed In An Hour !!!!
Wednesday, 30th Jul 2014 09:53

Morgan Schneiderlin reacted furiously to the news that Saints are not going to sell him by tweeting his journey at the club had been destroyed.

Ralph Krueger came out and said the very words that Saints fans wanted to hear on Tuesday afternoon, from North America he told radio interviewers that the Club was not going to sell Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez, not an unreasonable statement for a Club Chairman to make, indeed I would not dare to try to count the number of times you hear those words from various Chairmen and CEO's over the course of a transfer window, sometimes they actually keep their promise.

But this enraged Schneiderlin who tweeted at 6.55pm

"6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour !!!"

Why should the last six years be destroyed ? what actually have Southampton Football lub done wrong except for state they are going to keep two players who are under contract to them !

Contracts are two way things, over those six years Schneiderlin has been well paid for his efforts and given several new contracts as the club's league position and finances improved, he has been happy to sign all of them, possibly because they have been better than anything else he could have got elsewhere, every summer Arsene Wenger has supposedly been about to sign him, every summer he hasn't done so, this summer appears no different.

Yes in many respects Schneiderlin deserves a big money move more than just about any of the other four players we have sold and from that point of view I can see why he might be upset, but he is a professional and should behave in that manner.

Im sorry but I have absolutely no sympathy for him and his prima dona tweet, the worst thing that happened to Morgan Schneiderlin yesterday was that he was told that he would have to spend another season playing in the Premier League for extravagant wages, somewhere perhaps someones amazing journey was actually destroyed when they were told their 6 year old child was terminally ill.

In some respects Ralph Krueger and indeed all of the Saints hierarchy are on a hiding to nothing, they have been damned for allowing a number of Saints stars to leave over the past month or two, yet now we see what they are up against, it is clear that all of these players have been tapped up and are being coerced away from the club and now they are being damned for doing exactly what they are justly entitled to do and that is keep a player under contract.

You are 100% right, but he must be wondering why his ex team mates can continue their own personal rise while he has to stay put. Not good for team bonding but it looks like we are in for a "challenging" transitional period - good luck Ronnie, and we can at least do our bit by getting behind whoever is left and the new recruits

Still not sure he will stay...feel this is just macho posturing from the board. Something I am very pleased to see them do having thought about it some more. Another great season and, at 25/26, bigger clubs than spurts will come calling. So not sure what his problem is. Just needs a little patience. But then I suppose a year seems like a lifetime when you're 24 lol.

Anyway, 100% agree with you today Nick. Spot on.

Have to agree Nick. Much as I have admired Morgan's contributions to Saints over six years, to put a tweet of that petulance out into cyberspace was quite a dumb act. Yes, he is entitled to feel frustrated as several of his colleagues with less service to Saints have got their "dream moves" but he has sullied an otherwise impeccable reputation with this hissy fit. Just how widespread the fallout from NCs and MPs departures is becoming clearer and the " tapping up suspicions are more likely with every passing day of the transfer window.

I can forgive him, after seeing all that has gone on around him. I'm sure with wise counselling he will calm down and continue to be the best midfielder in EPL. After all it's in his best interest, who would want to buy a player who can willingly play at less then their best. He will still want to attract buyers, so he needs to put in the same performances. We all know that all eyes will be on Southampton now, to see who else we are developing.

Morgan and Jay to stay, to continue to dominate EPL, to lift the hearts of those who have stayed and to make us a club to be proud of.

The board will have learnt from this, and hopefully they will show far greater strength than it appears they have so far.

On top of this Ronald Koeman has a history of being a disciplinarian, he stripped Pelle of the captaincy at Feyenoord after a couple of incidents, it taught him a lesson, and came back a better man for it. So good was his action that Pelle followed him to Saints. I think we can expect a whole lot more from 'Marbella' Ron

COYR!

Well said,

I think half the problem, with the benefit of hindsight , is that we have pushed and pushed these 4 particular players to play for England and France respectively. I for one was very proud to have seen so many of our players on the international scene. At every given opportunity Poch would publicly promote their skills, but once they began to mix with the footballs elite their heads were turned irreparably and once a new club approached them it further confirmed their newly acquired suspicions, that they are undervalued.

This is what he said a little over a year ago:

What has changed? nothing, aside from the players attitude.,

I may be naive, but I felt that Krueger's statement about MS and JP was sufficiently categorical for us all to believe him and be confident of his intentions. Well done to him, I would have just preferred this statement to be made before the Chambers deal.

My real concern now is whether the two players in question believe him and will leave the media stage and return to the pre-season business in hand.

Disappointed in Morgan's outburst, but then Twitter doesn't encourage considered thought amongst its users; so far so good for Jay, let's hope he keeps his counsel and gets on with his recovery.

Now let's see some quality signings...

Prime targets this season: finish above Liv and Tot.

Kruger and Reed have brought this on themselves. You can't expect to sell 5 key players and then just suddenly decide the buck stops there. It's just a very naive strategy which is systematic of the criticism of the board this season. On the one hand it can be strongly argued that as a club we have been powerless to stop players leaving, but having created such negative media attention from our reported 'fire sale' it seems that we will struggle to attr5act the sort of players we need. It’s unarguably turned into the absolute worst case scenario this summer.

Poor Morgan he is only very, very rich and he wanted to go and play with Uncle MoPo and become very, very, very rich and take part in an exciting battle for 6th place with Everton + of course those Thursday evenings in empty stadiums playing teams we've never heard of.

If we were going to 'draw the line' I think it should have been drawn sooner. Morgan is probably entitled to wonder why AL can go and not him but then he was entitled not to sign his last contract to...

Kreuger has put his head on the block on this one - any remaining credibility the board has will go through the same door as Morgan if he does leave.

PS how in the hell would Jay pass a medical at the moment anyway??

I am growing tired of these players attitude. They seem to want it all. Morgan could quite easily have turned round to the board and said "I can see you are in a bit of a mess after the Chambers deal, how about this? I sign a new contract with a hefty rise in wages and a release clause in it so I can go for a sensible fee next summer, oh and you make me captain and make me the face of the club".

The club would have had no option but to say yes. He gets just one more year on increased wages with a guaranteed exit next summer. Would that have really been so difficult? Instead he throws his toys out of the pram.

I've always had the utmost respect for Morgan, but that was seriously challenged yesterday. I think footballers should be banned from social media full stop. Luke Shaw favourited a Man U ‘fan's’ comment about coming to OT (back before the World Cup) and from that point on we knew we'd lost him, despite him being under contract to us. And then Morgan follows and unfollows the official Spurs handle in quick succession followed by his childish rant. I also seem to remember Adam Lallana coming off Twitter because he came under fire for events in his personal life. Whilst I think this in itself is wrong, and sometimes it is a privilege to share in the life of a professional footballer (though often very dull and consisting mainly of following a number of teenage girls), the audience are real life and you will be judged hugely, very quickly by what you say. The worst thing for Adam is if he closed his Twitter account because he took a bit of stick there, he may want to feign injury when Liverpool visit St. Mary’s!

Anyway, getting back to Morgan.. It sounds like Ralph has made his position clear. If he goes back on his word now his credibility will be smashed to smithereens. I seriously hope Morgan can be turned around by RoKo because he has been an excellent servant to us. I did also previously consider him captain material. As others have stated I also happen to think he’s the best midfielder in the EPL and he should be insulted if Tottenham did really bid £13m for him. That is a derisory offer.

Also, as Fordy states a new contract and the chance to leave in the next window if the situation arises is fair for both parties. It helps SFC to source an adequate replacement too in good time.

A disappointing reaction from a player who's behaviour has been exemplary thus far. I agree with the boards stand but I too would have liked to have seen this applied to Chambers too. Need to see good signings arrive now and allow Morgan time to cool off. I am sure he will see the sense in settling back in and knuckling down. As for that Argentinian poacher at spurs ....

Sky say he has just put in a transfer request. No one is going to buy him for 27m so something has to give. Make him sweat until 31st August and then sell the b**tard...

I was very encouraged by the chairman's statement that Schneiderlin and Rogriguez are not for sale. They surely can't go back on that statement after all that happened in the past few weeks. I was immediately deflated again by Schneiderlin's ridiculous comments.
I agree with everything Nick has said here, and also on bstokesaint's comment about social media. Just stay off it and be professional.

When I got up yesterday I thought the worst like everybody else but Ralph's statement put my mind at ease. Yes he has put his head on the chopping block but it has not been lopped off yet and the club is not for sale. This MS twitter rant and not possible dust up is not good. Whether he is the cause of the altercation or not he must be made to honor his contract and fined if he does not. Each and everyone of these players was happy to take the $$ before big clubs started calling so they can continue to take it with a smile or eat the fine or suspension....none of these rich toddlers know the meaning of DESTROYED.

The board is damned no matter what they do.....we wanted them to state their case, they have, so let's wait another two weeks. Too much judgement is passed too early and let's not lower ourselves to some of our players level. Yes we are tight on time to get new players and to gel as a squad but it can happen so chin up and let's enjoy the ride now that the wheels seem to be securely fastened.
