Artur Boruc Wants To Move
Thursday, 21st Aug 2014 22:46

Artur Boruc is not happy with being number 2 keeper at the club and would prefer to move on and seek first team football.

Ronald Koeman today confirmed that Artur Boruc is seeking to move away from Saints after being displaced as first choice keeper by Fraser Forster, this is an understandable reaction from Boruc who at his age needs first team football especially if he wante to continue to play for Poland.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's game against West Brom Koeman said

"Boruc is training like he did before. I spoke with him and he said he would like to move, that’s normal for his position, and until the transfer deadline he is not in the team. If he stays after then, it’s a new situation and we think about it. When he moves it will be best for Artur and best for club.

I’m not frustrated because I think it’s a normal situation of what he thinks of himself and that he wants to be in the Polish national team. To be part of that has to play and that’s normal, I can understand that because I like players who do everything to play, but difficult here because we made situation here clear."

This puts Saints back to square one with regards to goalkeepers should their first choice suffer an injury, Kelvin Davis is not up to the job and at his age is not going to get any better, Paulo Gazzaniga could be one for the future but has had a lot of bad luck in terms of being thrown in at the deep end and really needs to go out on loan to get experience and Cody Cropper has even less experience.

Saints probably now need to get both Croppper and Gazzaniga out on loan perhaps bringing in a keeper who would be prepared to sit on the bench, someone like Brad Friedel.

I was disappointed to see Boruc automatically dropped. Ok, he has had his moments but on the whole he has been a rock and felt he deserved to at least start the season in goal despite the recent purchase. Will be sorry to see him go but cannot blame him wanting to move on. He has to think of his own career in this situation but as you say, we will be back to square on in the goalkeeping area. Always seems one step forward and two back at our club.

Best wishes for the future Artur. It's been a fun couple of seasons and I can smile about the attempted double Cruyff turn against Arsenal when it was nil nil now,

It wasn't a great idea for the manager to publically state who his first choice goalkeeper is. He hasn't done it for any other position. Everyone should be competing for their place and earn it on merit. He nominated Forster before a ball had been kicked.

Yes - but Boruc will have seen the writing on the wall when such a big signing came in.

Boruc keeps some decent keepers out of the Polish national team. To publicly state that he was dropped was a mistake as was naming Vlarr as a target.

Let's hope these where just settling in issues.

We already know that Foster is not the best Keeper in the PL . Let's hope he proved to be the best at Saints.

This is the other side of the loyalty coin. Clubs are happy to dispense with players the second they are of no use which is one of the reasons players know they are simply an asset on the balance books and lads like dejan seek to realise their market value. The club will be glad to get rid of his wages. Cheers Artur, loved that game against arsenal when he dropped the first couple of catches and the crowd were on his back and he kept coming out for them. Class shot stopper.

Whatsforpud and Jesus 02 - As a club at all levels, PR and saying or doing the right thing is not our strong point, especially this close season and summer. We never really seem to learn from our mistakes. That said, perhaps it is just a football thing.

I love Boruc and think he is one of the best keepers in the prem. Will be gutted if he goes. However, i think the contract situation may have played a part in the purchase of fraser.

Surely it is in Boruc's interest to hang on for the final year of his contract and then he can get more money as a free agent from clubs not worrying about a transfer fee. If in the meantime he displaces Forster due to form or injury that benefits both him and the club.

Forget about Friedel. When Lloris was brought in, he knew his game streak was coming to an end. I saw an interview with him at the time and he said he had been working on getting his coaching badges and to that end, Spurs were very supportive and were having him work with their youth teams. So he has his future pretty well mapped out. Smart move by Spurs to stop him leaving in a huff and coming back to haunt them. So unless Spurs screw it up, he's not available
