Saturdays Win Prompts Sell Out for Trip To Arsenal
Monday, 15th Sep 2014 22:25

Saints win over Newcastle United has caused a surge in ticket sales for the Capital One Trip to the Emirates next Tuesday evening.

At the start of Monday morning Saints had already sold almost half of their 5,000 allocation for the trip to Arsenal in the Capital One cup, not bad going since they had only been on sale for a few days.

But the win over the Geordies caused a massive surge in interest with Saints fans suddenly realising that this was a big game and one that if won could see us with a great chance of a good run in the competition, especially as this fixture comes smack bang in the middle of two Champions league fixtures as well as only being four days away from Arsenal hosting Tottenham. it could be that it wont be a full strength Arsenal side.

Perhaps sensing this Saints fans responded in droves this morning to the weekends victory and snapped up over 2,500 tickets to sell out the entire allocation before close of play.

So Saints will be backed by a massive support at Arsenal bringing back memories of when 10,000 Saints fans travelled to Highbury in the same competition back in October 1977, sadly then it was not to be and two late goals sent Saints back to their promotion challenge with their tails between their legs.

Hopefully their wont be a repeat of that score nor the shocking violence of that night that saw dozens of Saints coaches have their windows put through after the game.

damn it, i was too late, and I live in London! Tickets were only a tenner as well...I might have to sneak in the home side and hold it in if we score

Nick, with respect it is not to do with a big win over Newcastle. It is to do with the price of the tickets.
A Tuesday evening trip to the Emirates at £10 a pop is value. Compair this to the £18 I was charged to watch us play Bristol City at St Mary's last season and you will find the answer.
Clubs are beginning to find that they can no longer take fans as having ever deeper pockets and credit to the Arsenal for their pricing on this occasion.

saintmark you are exactly right, 10 quid is an absolute bargain and for a stadium like the emirates, no wonder they sold out so quick.
