Saints At Arsenal The Preview
Wednesday, 3rd Dec 2014 16:34

Its a case of dusting ourselves down and going again as we travel to The Emirates to take on Arsenal and try to keep them out of catching distance.

Ronald Koeman has to do some reshuffling and get his team back to confident ways after the home defeat to Manchester City, it will be a case of getting a side out to do the job and letting Arsenal worry about us rather than the other way round.

Personally I think its a few simple decisions for Koeman, keep the same starting back four, have Wanyama and Cork holding the midfield with Davis foraging in front and play Tadic and Cork out wide with of course Pelle up front.

To put it in a nutshell it is a case of putting out a side that knows what its shape is and knows what its job is, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but our downfall on Sunday was that we didn't seem to know those two things, so against the Gunners its a case of back to basics.

If we do that then there is no reason why we should not get a result, Arsenal are not in good form and although they are still there or thereabouts the fact is this has been their worst start to a season in three decades and we need to make sure it stays that way.

A win would be nice but even a point would be a good thing as it would keep the Gunners six points behind us as well as meaning that West Ham cannot jump over us on Saturday barring a landslide victory, these next two games are about keeping confidence and keeping things going, we cant win every game, so we need to keep picking up points to make sure we are in the best position to leap forwards when the games get easier.

It will be tough and whatever the result we need to keep calm and not wet the bed as some have done in the past week or so every time there is a drama, the abuse hurled at certain players after Villa and City was scandalous and already some supporters have decided who the scapegoats are in this team.

Our win in the League cup was well deserved and that should give us the confidence to take on Arsenal and get something out of this game.
