Saints Get A Home Tie In FA Cup Third Round
Tuesday, 9th Dec 2014 10:17

Saints have been drawn at home in the the third round of the FA Cup in a game likley to be played on a Sunday.

Saints have been drawn at home to Ipswich Town in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, whilst a home tie is always welcome, it is a bit of a middle ground when it comes to the opponents, of course its preferable to avoid another Premier League team, but if you do that you want the opposition to be as low down as possible so to draw the Tractor Boys who are flying high in the Championship is a potential banana skin.

The game is due to be played on the weekend of Saturday 3rd January, however it is unlikely that the game will be on that day given that only two days earlier we are playing Arsenal at St Mary's, that being the case the fixture is likely to be changed to Sunday 4th January.

The FA Cup offers great opportunities to clubs like Saints in terms of potential glory and European Qualification, hopefully as per the Capital One Cup Ronald Koeman will continue to take it seriously.

This season is turning into our Groundhog Day experience. It is closely mirroring last seasons. A great start which no one predicted in part attributed to our style of play and a settled squad. Then a period of disappointment as we lost several games against a string of top clubs ,made worse by a few injuries and a goal keeping error of comic proportions. The same is happening this season and now we get Ipswich in the cup, whereas last year we had Burnley a high flying championship club at the time.

Let's hope the Ipswich game is a cup classic like the Burnely game, we need a Clyne thunderbolt to cheer us all up.
