Saturday Results Not Good For Saints
Sunday, 1st Feb 2015 09:22

The pressure is on for Saints against Swansea City as the results on Saturday mainly went aganist us.

Manchester United's home win against Leicester City was probably the most odds on fixture of the weekend, therefore this one was no great shock and we find ourselves knocked back to 4th place, however the good thing about this result was that 3-0 up at half time it looked like United might be able to make a serious inroad into clawing back our superiour goal difference, however the Foxes rallied and pulled a goal back themselves, now we just need to beat Swansea and make sure that United's position above us is only temporary.

Liverpool's win over West ham brings them within four points of us and with Daniel Sturridge back they should not be written off just yet, but the silver lining of this game was that it left the Hammers trailing us by 6 points still and if we can gain 3 points today that will extend to 9 setting up our fixture with them at ST Mary's nicely.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the day though was Spurs win at West Brom, the Baggies were starting to show signs of recovery under Tony Pulis and even a point against Spurs would have kept the London Soccer Chickens trailing in our wake if we beat the Swans.

The score draw between Chelsea and Man City at this moment in time anyway meant little to us, however if we win this afternoon it will bring us within 3 points of City and we cant turn that down, however ultimately I feel that we just need to keep winning, keep the chasing pack at bay and in the case of these two teams just see where we are against them.
However before we kick off ourselves there is one other fixture and that is Arsenal V Aston Villa, it would be good if just one result would go in our favour and the pubs before the Swansea game will be full of Saints supporters roaring on Villa, sadly i think it may well be in vain given that I would have this down as the second most home banker of the weekend.

But no one said it would be easy and the truth is we have to win our own games before worrying too much about others, do that this afternoon and our position will have improved slightly against our rivals, OK some will still be breathing down our necks but we will have held the gap and another game will have gone and that is going to be key, if we keep winning then eventually those chasing will run out of games.

I've just worked out that if we win all of our remaining games we will be guaranteed to finish third.
Add to this if Chelsea and City lose all their remaining games, we would actually win the Premiership!
All is not lost COYR!
