Thursday, 26th Feb 2015 16:04

A look at the rest of the Premier League games being played away from The Hawthorns this weekend.

West Ham v Crystal Palace — 12:45, Saturday 28th February

West Ham will be looking forward to another outing against a fellow London club, this time in the form of Crystal Palace. The Irons have remained unbeaten in their last three matches, but will hope to go one better this weekend by picking up all three points, as opposed to the three draws they have had on the bounce.

West Ham will be hoping for another big performance from their ever-dependable shot stopper, Adrian. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that the Irons’ keeper has already made 89 saves this campaign, at an average of 2.97 saves per goal conceded. Adrian will hope that he can keep his second clean sheet in three to deliver another decisive three points for his side.

At the back, Aaron Creswell has been West Ham’s most consistent performer, and according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, is the only outfield member of the West Ham squad to have player every minute of Premier League football. The data also revealed that he has covered a squad best 274.5km so far this season, also racking up 102 clearances and 16 blocks. In addition to this, he has notched up 18 interceptions and has demonstrated his quality on the ball by setting up four goals this term.

Going forward, West Ham will hope that Stewart Downing can deliver the required quality to earn them a further three points. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index serves to highlight his quality on the ball, having completed 514 passes in the opposition half, a squad best 32 crosses and delivered eight assists for his teammates. He has also demonstrated his quality under pressure by finding the net five times this season and will hope that he can make it six this weekend. He is 5/1 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Crystal Palace will come into this weekend’s match looking to get back to form after last weekend’s narrow defeat to Arsenal. Had a last minute header gone in rather than strike the base of the post, Palace would only have suffered one defeat in eight matches. It is this form that they hope will see them through to another victory to help close the gap on the top half of the league.

Crystal Palace will be hoping for a big performance from their shot stopper, Julien Speroni. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals that he has racked up 59 saves so far this season, at an average of 1.59 saves per goal conceded. He will hope to keep his second clean sheet in four matches to deliver three points for the Eagles.

At the back for Crystal Palace, Joel Ward has had a great season thus far and will hope to continue his form, as demonstrated by the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. Ward is the only Palace outfield player to have played every minute of Premier League football this season, winning 62 tackles in the process; 80.5% of his overall tackles. He has also made 115 clearances and 46 interceptions and will need to remain equally solid to keep out the Palace frontline.

In the middle of the park, Crystal Palace will be delighted that their inspirational captain Mile Jedinak has returned from international duty, and the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal why. Jedinak has won 65 tackles already this season, 76.5% of his overall tackles, whilst also racking up an impressive 68 interceptions. On the ball he possesses an equal amount of quality, having scored five times already this season, averaging a goal every three shots and hitting the target with 80% of his 15 shots. He is 13/2 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Burnley v Swansea — 15:00, Saturday 28th February

Burnley will come into this weekend’s match against Swansea with confidence, having taken a very good away point at the league leaders’ fortress, Stamford Bridge. Burnley will hope to go one better by picking up all three points this weekend to help them climb out of the relegation zone as the fight for survival heats up.

Burnley will be hoping for a big performance from their shot stopper Tom Heaton, to help them go one better this weekend and take all three points. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has made 77 saves already this campaign, at an average of 1.77 saves per goal conceded. He will be hoping to extend that ratio further this weekend by keeping another clean sheet.

At the back, Ben Mee has been a consistent performer for Burnley this season, and came up with the goods last weekend to earn his side a point against Chelsea. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that more impressive than his two goals this season are his 41 tackles won (an overall 69.5% success rate), his 41 interceptions, 111 clearances and his 17 blocks. He will need to deliver another performance of equal stature to contain a buoyant Swansea side.

Up top, Burnley will be looking to Danny Ings to convert any chances that they are given. The EA SPORTS Player Performance can reveal that Ings has converted 42.1% of his 19 shots on target into goals, amassing eight in total so far this season. Key to his game is his direct nature, which is demonstrated by his squad best 40 dribbles completed. He is 17/10 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Swansea will come into this match buoyed by last weekend’s victory over Manchester United to help them maintain ninth position in the league. Swansea will hope to claim their first back-to-back wins of the new year on Saturday, a win that could see them leapfrog West Ham in their push for European football next season.

Swansea will be looking for another dominant performance from their impressive midfield this weekend, including South Korea international Ki Sung-Yeung. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that last week saw him hit the target with both of his shots, finding the net once. Over the course of the season, he has completed 1,090 passes, with a completion rate of 90.3%. Burnley will need to stop him dictating the tempo early on in the game, or he will continue to command proceedings for the Swans.

His midfield partner Jonjo Shelvey has been equally impressive this season, as demonstrated by the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. Shelvey has won 27 tackles already this term, with a 62.8% win ratio, also racking up 26 interceptions. On the ball he has three assists to his name, and was only denied a goal last weekend after his shot deflected off teammate Bafetimbi Gomis, but will hope to find the net this weekend. He is 22/5 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

The third impressive midfielder for the Swans this season has been Iceland international Gylfi Sigurdsson. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index has demonstrated his quality on the ball by completing a squad best 452 passes in the opposition half, helping him to rack up eight assists and four goals. Having already racked up 27 interceptions this campaign, he will be keen to add to that tally to help him showcase his qualities on the ball.

Manchester United v Sunderland — 15:00, Saturday 28th February

Manchester United will hope to bounce straight back from last weekend’s defeat against Swansea with three points to put a smile back on the faces of the Old Trafford faithful. United will hope that this weekend sees them make it four wins from six in the Premier League, to help them re-gain third spot from long-standing rivals Arsenal.

Key to United gaining maximum points from the weekend will be their in-form keeper delivering another high-class performance. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that David de Gea has racked up 70 saves already this season, at an average of 2.69 saves per goal conceded. He will hope to further extend that ratio with another clean sheet come Saturday.

In the middle of the park, Juan Mata will hope to be given the opportunity to highlight his talent on the ball. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has completed 822 passes so far this season with an 89.6% completion rate. He has also converted 71.4% of his seven shots on target into a tally of five goals for the season so far, and he will be keen to keep up his impressive statistics with a dominant display in the middle of the park.

Up top, United will be hoping that their skipper Wayne Rooney can deliver a typically passionate and impressive performance. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals that hard work is one of the key’s to Rooney’s success, having completed a squad best 244.4km so far this season. He has also completed a squad best 656 passes in the opposition half and will want to demonstrate his quality on the ball by adding to his eight goals for the season. He is 53/50 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Sunderland will come into this match hopeful of taking the points away with them, and having only lost once in their last four matches, should be in with a good chance of doing so. Sunderland are also the league’s draw specialists having finished all

square in 13 of their 26 matches so far this season, and will hope for another draw as a minimum outcome this weekend.

Sunderland will need their back four to be on top form this weekend to keep United’s array of attacking talent at bay, and they will look to Santiago Vergini to lead the line. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has already won 48 tackles this season, made 85 clearances, 43 interceptions and 11 blocks. He has also demonstrated his quality on the ball by racking up a squad best 38 dribbles competed, and will need to demonstrate the same levels of composure this weekend.

In the middle of the park, the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal the secrets to Sebastian Larsson’s fantastic season thus far. Larsson has completed a squad best 279.3km, winning 59 tackles in the process, also racking up 28 interceptions. When on the ball his quality is undoubted, having completed 497 passes in the opposition half and laying on four goals for teammates.

Sunderland will hope that Adam Johnson is able to find the back of the United net to help deliver the travelling faithful with a happy journey back up North. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index sheds light on his ability to create goals having completed a squad best 22 crosses so far this term. He will look to add to his personal tally through his direct style, which has seen him complete 36 dribbles so far this season. He is 17/2 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Newcastle v Aston Villa — 15:00, Saturday 28th February

Newcastle welcome Aston Villa to St. James Park looking to bounce back after a humbling defeat by Manchester City in the last round of Premier League fixtures. The Magpies are comfortably sitting in mid-table, ten points clear of the relegation spots, but will be looking for a good run between now and the end of the season to secure a top-10 finish.

Jack Colback’s versatility would be a joy for any Premier League manager, with the Newcastle-born midfielder able to comfortably operate in central midfield, out wide and also at full back. Colback also guarantees to run himself into the ground in every match that he plays and although he may have been on the wrong end of a 5-0 defeat in the last round of Premier League fixtures, the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index demonstrates that he continued to show great desire throughout. The former Sunderland-man covered a total of 11.6 km - the most in Newcastle squad.

Although usually a forward, Ayoze Pérez was deployed on the wing against last season’s Champions in the last round of Premier League fixtures. Some players have been known to throw their toys out of the pram when asked to play out of position, but the Spanish youngster did the polar opposite and tried his absolute hardest to reverse the Magpies’ fortunes. Not only did he run the second highest distance in the Newcastle lineup, covering 10.8 km, but he also won an impressive 80% of his

challenges. Perez may have put in an impressive defensive shift against the Citizens on Saturday, but if you fancy him to get up the other end of the pitch and find the back of the net, head to 888sport.com who have the striker at 24/5 to score the first goal of the game.

If pundits were asked at the start of the season who Newcastle’s best performing defender would be this campaign, it’s unlikely that Paul Dummett would unanimously have been at the top of their lists. The Newcastle academy graduate, however, has been something of a revelation at the back this season, making a total of 204 defensive contributions (based on blocks, clearances, tackles won and interceptions) according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. It will certainly be a blow for John Carver and his men that the defender is likely to miss the rest of the campaign through injury.

Tim Sherwood’s return to management began with an unfortunate stoppage time defeat at the hands of Stoke City. It was a pity for the Villains who had taken the lead through a Scott Sinclair header and who had looked bright for many parts of the game.

If Villa are to maintain their Premier league status this term then they’ll need England international Fabian Delph to reach the levels of performance that led to his first England call-up last year. The former Leeds man delivered a peach of a cross for Scott Sinclair to score the opening goal of the game, which added to an all-round solid attacking display. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index demonstrates that Delph made a total of 20 attacking contributions (based on passes in the opposition half, crosses completed, dribbles completed and shots on target). This was the most in the Villa squad.

Scott Sinclair’s stated aim when joining the Villains on loan was to achieve more game time and when featuring for Sherwood’s men on Saturday, he certainly showed his desire to get stuck into the thick of the action. The on-loan City man covered a total of 11.2km on Saturday — the second most in the Villa lineup with only Fabian Delph (11.4km) covering more. If you think Sinclair can continue his goalscoring form, then head to 888sport.com who have the striker at 12/1 to score the first goal of the match.

Alan Hutton has been like a new signing for Aston Villa this term, featuring prominently after spending much of the last three seasons out on loan. In addition to performing extremely competently in defence, Hutton has also been a real attacking force for the Villa this season with the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index demonstrating that he has made a total of 414 attacking contributions. This is the fourth most of any Villa player and the eighth most of any defender in the league.

Stoke vs Hull — 15:00, Saturday 28th February

A brace from striker Mame Biram Diouf ended the Potters’ run of successive 4-1 defeats as he scored a 91st minute penalty to condemn Aston Villa to defeat. They welcome Hull, which will be no easy feat considering their impressive run of form.

Steven N’Zonzi has been one of Stoke’s most consistent performers over the last few years operating to great effect both offensively and defensively. Passing has always been one of the Frenchman’s biggest assets as he has a neat ability to thread the ball through opposition defences with ease, and he demonstrated this skill again last Saturday — completing a pass in the opposition half at an impressive rate of a pass every 3.75 minutes.

Since arriving from PSV for a fee of £3 million in June 2013, Erik Pieters has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for the Potters. The Dutchman has impressed with his willingness to push forward at every opportunity and against the Villains on Saturday, he certainly showed his desire to hug the touchline and swing crosses into the box. This willingness to attack at will is probably best demonstrated by the fact he completed 3 crosses on Saturday — which was more than any other defender in the league.

He may not have always been the most fashionable of players, but there is no doubting the quality that striker Jonathan Walters possesses. It took a while for Walters to make his mark on the Premier League, only earning regular starts in the top flight after joining Stoke in 2010. The former Ipswich man’s excellent work rate quickly endeared him to Stoke fans, best demonstrated by the fact he has covered more ground than any of Stoke’s other strikers (covering 190km), but the Irish international has proven himself to be a goalscorer too. He may not have always featured ‘up-top’ for Mark Hughes’ men this campaign, often being deployed on the wing, but he has still shown his excellent eye for goal. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows that he has managed to hit the target with 69% of his shots this term — a higher accuracy rating than any other Stoke striker. If you think that Walters can translate this shooting accuracy into goals, head to 888sport.com who have him at an industry best 7/1 to score the first goal of the match.

Hull travel to Stoke this weekend looking to continue their recent resurgence. Inspired by new striker Dame N’Doye, who scored his second goal in as many games, Steve Bruce’s men moved four points away from the relegation zone.

Some pundits were critical of Bruce’s decision to sign N’Doye, who was relatively unheard of in this country in his career to date — having never played for an English club. He’s certainly had an effect on the Hull squad, though, scoring late goals in each of his last two games and he’s also impressed with his overall shooting accuracy. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows that he has managed to hit the target with 71% of his shots — the best shot accuracy percentage of any Hull striker. If you back N’Doye to continue his goalscoring form this weekend, head to 888sport.com who have the striker at 7/1 to score the first goal of the match.

Since arriving on Humberside in the summer of 2013, Tom Huddlestone has established himself as a vital cog in the Hull City machine, spraying balls left and right from the centre of the park. In seasons gone by, former Spurs Head Coach Martin Jol has compared Huddlestone to the great Franz Beckenbauer due to his playmaking abilities, and these excellent passing skills were on show again in the last round of Premier League fixtures as the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index demonstrates that Huddlestone completed a total of 38 passes in the opposition half — more than any other Hull player.

Steve Bruce stressed the importance of keeping striker Nikica Jelavic fit after the game at Loftus Road, as he sees the Croatian as essential in their battle to avoid the drop. The former Everton man has a decent goal return this campaign, finding the back of the net eight times in the league, but he also gives the Tigers so much energy up front. He was a menace against QPR last weekend, continuously applying pressure on the Hoops’ centre backs in an attempt to force a mistake. He covered every blade of grass in an energetic display that saw him run a total of 11.2 km — more than any other Hull player.

Liverpool v Manchester City — 12:00, Sunday 1st March

Liverpool come into this fixture hoping for a repeat of last season’s epic encounter, which saw them prevail 3-2. Liverpool are the league’s form team at the moment, having remained unbeaten in their last 10 matches, winning seven of those games. Liverpool will hope to keep up the good form with a third consecutive win, which could take them into the top four.

Liverpool will be hoping that they can keep their sixth clean sheet in seven Premier League matches, and will be looking for Martin Skrtel to lead the defensive line. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he was won an impressive 81.3% of his 32 tackles this season, also racking up 238 clearances, 41 interceptions and a further 30 blocks. He will have to be at his imperious best to keep out an in-form Manchester City front line.

In the middle of the park, Liverpool will hope that their skipper Steven Gerrard can deliver on the big stage once more. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us that he still possesses the necessary assets on top of his six goals this season, having won 41 tackles with a win percentage of 65.1%. On the ball, he is still extremely efficient; having completed 85.4% of his 1166 passes this term. He will look to win the battle of the engine rooms this weekend to give Liverpool a stronghold in the match.

Liverpool will be hoping that youngster Raheem Sterling can deliver the goods for them up top. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals that he is just as likely to score as he is to turn provider, having notched up six goals and assists a piece. Sterling has completed a squad best 75 dribbles this season, and has hit a squad best top speed of 35.04km/h. These in conjunction will make him a major

threat to the blue half of Manchester, and he is 5/2 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Man City will be hoping to come away with all three points this weekend to help them keep breathing down the league leader’s neck. City closed the gap to five points with an impressive win and a third win on the bounce could put them just two points behind Chelsea.

City will be looking for a big performance from their ever-impressive shot stopper Joe Hart this weekend. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals that the England international keeper has already racked up 48 saves this season, at an average of 2.09 saves per goal conceded. He will be looking for back-to-back clean sheets to help City travel home with all three points.

City will be hoping for a repeat performance of last weekend’s impressive 5-0 demolition of Newcastle, and in particular, a repeat of David Silva’s dominant display. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us that the Spanish midfield wizard scored with both of his two attempts on goal, also grabbing an assist. Silva finished the match with a 90% pass completion rate; completing 45 of his 50 passes. Liverpool will need to get close to Silva early on, or his vision and composure will help City to control proceedings.

Up top, Sergio Aguero continues to do what he does best, and that is scoring goals; lots of them. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that his 15 goals this season have come at an average of just 93.3 minutes. In case that wasn’t enough of a threat, he also has the ability to turn provider, having racked up a squad best six assists as well. His pace will pose a major threat to Liverpool this weekend, having hit a top speed of 34.66km/h this campaign. He is 7/6 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Arsenal vs Everton — 14:05, Sunday 1st March

Arsenal come in to this came against Everton off the back of two consecutive 2-1 wins in the Premier League and now sit in third place, having climbed above Southampton and Manchester United in recent weeks.

Santi Cazorla has been a revelation of late and now finds himself ranked as the fourth best player in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. Cazorla has scored seven goals himself and set up a further six for his teammates. He has made the fourth most passes in the opposition half out of anyone in the Premier League, with 908.

Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player ranked above Cazorla in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index rankings, in third place, and the Chilean forward has been in scintillating form this season. Sanchez has recorded 30 shots on target, the fourth most in the division, and as such has hit the target with 65.2% of his attempts. From this, Sanchez has scored twelve goals. Sanchez is also second in the division for

successful dribbles, with 78, only trailing Eden Hazard on 118. Sanchez is 15/4 to score first with 888sport.com.

Francis Coquelin has earned himself a regular place in the Arsenal side recently and the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows just why. The 23-year-old French holding midfielder has won 74.5% of his 47 tackles this season, also racking up 38 interceptions in the process. He provides the perfect blend of tenacity and reading of the play that Arsenal will need in front of their back four.

Everton come into this match hopeful of coming away with the points, and have proved themselves tough to beat of late, losing just once in their last six outings. The Toffees have only conceded three times in their last five matches and will hope to keep up the good defensive work.

With the defence keeping them out at the other end, Everton will hope that Romelu Lukaku can put the chances away at the other end. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us that he has hit a top speed of 33.93km/h so far this season, which will worry any defence. He will look to use that pace to find his eighth goal of the season. Lukaku is 17/2 to score first with 888sport.com.

A secondary threat comes from Everton’s Scotland international midfielder Stephen Naismith, as demonstrated by the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. Naismith has the ability to create goals, having completed 434 passes in the opposition half, and also has seven goals to his name as well this season. Playing in conjunction with Lukaku, Naismith will provide a big threat from midfield that Arsenal will need to be wary of.

At the back, Everton will look to their skipper Phil Jagielka to martial the back line. According to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, the England international centre back has won 76.7% of his 43 tackles this year. He has also racked up 40 interceptions this season, and will need to make sure his reading of the play is at it’s best to keep up with Arsenal’s passing football.
