I would be surprised if many Saints fans wanted Spurs to win the Capital One Cup, but Chelsea's win could well be beneficial to Saints come the end of the season.

Chelsea winning the Capital One Cup means that the Europa League place usually awarded to the winners will now go to the Premier league spot meaning that finishing sixth will now guarantee European qualification.

But it could go as low as seventh because the runners up in the FA Cup no longer get the Europa League spot in thwt competition, that now also reverts to Premier league placing if the FA Cup winners have already qualified for Europe via the league.

So all in all a satisfying win for Saints fans on a rare afternoon of supporting Chelsea and further sweetened by the opportunity to watch our former manager's nose being rubbed in it as his Spurs side were decidedly second best on the day.

Mind you not that he would have cared as this competition, indeed all cup competitions mean nothing to him with his destiny as far as he is concerned lying in winning the title.

However it was good to see him stood out in his technical area getting totally drenched in the second half for the second piece of Karma in the last week.
