Saints 2015/16 Kit's Allegedly Leaked On Internet
Thursday, 12th Mar 2015 13:39

According to some media sites Saints new kits for next season manufactured by Adidas have been leaked on line.

According to the leaked information which may or may not prove to have any foundation whatsoever Saints will be playing in their traditional red & white stripes next season whilst their away kit will be a dark green shirt with a black sash running down from the left hand shoulder.

All very credible and a sah design for the away kit would be universally well received as although many Saints fans would not favour a replica of the kit produced as a home kit back in 2010/11, preferring to see it as a one off, they would like the sash incorporated in an away design to pay homage to our past.

However the one thing that perhaps raises doubts that it might be fake is that in many respects its exactly the same as this seasons kit, the stripes are perhaps a little thicker, but only by a matter of millimetres, I would be surprised if Adidas and Saints in keeping strpes did not make it noticably different to encourage sales, in this design perhaps only the collar varies from this seasons effort.

In previous seasons leaks of this nature have been surprisingly accurate so I would not discount it, personally I would love to see this be the actual kit, for me Southampton Football Club play in Red & White Stripes and it is an identity as distinctive to us as is Liverpool's all red kit, Arsenal's red with white sleeves or Celtic's hoops, but I do acknowledge that in order to persuade their fans to buy a shirt every year, clubs need to make subtle changes and as long as the stripes are intact I feel there is enough scope to do this, however I do feel that the design doing the rounds is too close to this years kit for comfort, although this is Adidas and we all know their penchant for kits that are very similar.

A green away shirt with a black sash???? Sounds revolting.

A sash home kit, fantastic; let's make a statement and stand out from the crowd. A sash away kit just means we are falling into the usual template design shit again, as Adidas have a number of other clubs wearing an away sash this season and seemingly next now too. Sash home or bring back the large panel kits of the early 80s please!

The large panel kits of the early 80's were not popular at the time, I cant understand why anyone would want to go back to them.

Im amazed that some people want to see kit other than stripes, can you imagine a Liverpool fan wanting to see his side in stripes or a celtic fan who would be hapy with an all green hibs style kit, if we want to compete with the top clubs then we need to keep our unique identity rather than just go with the clubs who change designs each year and are only based on a colour scheme

Our stripes are what people recognise in a saints team, thats my opinion anyway

The large panel kits would imo be extremely popular Nick. As for why anyone would want kits other than stripes, it's simple as far as I'm concerned; I first watched / got into Saints in 81, therefore until 88 (possibly or was it 89) I'd never known Saints in stripes! I hated stripes them and never liked them since as I grew into Saints without them. I get that others see things differently (and thats ok) but to me; narr, I want our club to stand out more and be different

The "Leaked" kits look good including the Grean and Blue away one (which is surprising). I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is genuine.

Personally I like to see something a little different but can understand why the would go for the safe option after the all red template kit and this seasons "less robust" effort.

If they wanted make a statement I would be happy for them to change the badge back to the city crest, but I think that its less about not making a mistake.

Got to be stripes. I was never keen on the reverse Ajax kit of the early 80s. But the leaked kit looks identical to Sunderland. Of course Adidas want to have their stripes on the sleeves, but why not have white sleeves with red stripes? One day the candy stripes must make a re-appearance. I'd prefer white socks too.

Bring back the 80's Hummel kit! Loved the blue away one.
