Fraser Forster Injury Update
Tuesday, 24th Mar 2015 08:53

The worrying thing about the injury to Fraser Forster is that there has been little mention of what the actual injury is other than a vague description.

Almost three days after the event little more is known about Fraser Forster's injuries that forced him out of Saturday's game against Burnley than could have been ascertained in the lengthy delay before he was stretchered off.

The challenge seemed pretty innocuous, at first it was assumed that there had been some contact and that the keeper had been caught and it was therefore an impact injury, but subsequent tv replays show little contact and the club have only confirmed that he has a knee and shoulder injury.

Im not quite sure how he injured his shoulder as he appeared to slip whilst clearing the ball, but it seems that he may have twisted his knee as he fell and that is usually not good when you need to be stretchered off and he seemed to immediately know that he had suffered something more serious than a twist.

The club have said little since other than that he had gone to hospital immediately, it now appears though that after various scans more should be known later in the week when the swelling etc has gone down.

So Saints fans can expect to know more concrete news on the situation as the weekend approaches.

You're in danger of being accused of a misleading headline here just to get page hits...Maybe you meant "Still no ....."

I can see your point, but the update was that he has had scans and the results should be known later in the week as opposed to the total silence from SFC, so at least anyone who has read this has some idea of when they can expect something a little more concrete

The TV were saying hes done knee ligaments and the replays certainly backed that up. Seemed to get his knee caught under him when he cleared the ball. If so that's him out for the season.

On the Australian premier league review on Sunday the commentator said it was ACL, which is not good at all. Fingers crossed the big man gets fit again soon, but I have faith in Kelvin to see the season out well for us.

To be a little hard on Forster is that the injury need not have happened. He was very slow in coming out to collect the ball which he could have easily reached without the back pass from Bertrand. Similar hesitation in coming out resulted in goals at Aston Villa and Newcastle.
I know I'm being critical of an excellent goalkeeper but when he comes back, hopefully not too long, it is a part of his game that could be improved on..
