Friday, 22nd May 2015 09:31

Its the most important game of Saints season and our friends at EA Sports Player Performance Index take a look at a few stats ahead of the game for us.

Man City v Southampton — Sunday 24th May, 15:00

Man City will be keen to ensure that second place is theirs with a victory in front of an expectant Etihad crowd. The blue half of Manchester have won their last five on the bounce and will see there to be no excuses as to why they can’t make it six in a row to round off the campaign.

City will be looking for a big performance from their England international shot stopper Joe Hart. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has made 83 saves so far this season, at an average of 2.44 saves per goal conceded. He will be looking to keep his fourth clean sheet in six matches to round off another fine season.

In the middle of the park, Yaya Toure has had a fine season and last weekend he showed that quality. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he converted both of his two shots on goal, completed all three of his dribbles and

completed 54 passes, 85.7% of his overall attempts. He is 17/10 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Another midfielder to have a fantastic game was David Silva, as demonstrated by the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. Silva hit the target five times last weekend, with 71.4% of his overall attempts finding the target. His two assists matched his tally of two interceptions, also completing 51 passes, 77.3% of his overall attempts. He will be hoping that he can deliver the same results this weekend to round off a fine season.

Southampton will come into their final Premier League fixture of the campaign in buoyant mood, having hit top gear in their 6-1 demolition of Aston Villa. Southampton will also be aware that a win this weekend could mean a fifth place finish should other results go their way, but they must focus on their own result and see where it leaves them.

The Saints will be looking for another big performance from their rock at the back Jose Fonte. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has won 75 tackles so far this season, 83.3% of his overall challenges. He has also made 196 clearances, 109 interceptions and 22 blocks, and will be looking to add to those respective tallies to keep City at bay.

Last weekend saw Shane Long have a brilliant game, as illustrated by the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. Long hit the target twice from his three attempts, seeing those two shots on target find the back of the net. He also won three of his four tackles, completed two crosses and made two interceptions. His two assists in the match also matched his tally of two goals in the game.

His performance was only bettered by the record breaking Sadio Mane, who now holds the record for the Premier League’s fastest hat trick. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he hit the target with all four of his attempts, turning three in to goals. He also laid on a goal, completed four out of five dribbles and completed 30 passes, 90.9% of his overall attempts. He is 13/5 to score anytime with 888sport.com.
