Rodgers Starts Where He Left Off Last Summer In His Transfer Dealings With Saints Friday, 29th May 2015 09:02 Brendon Rodgers is a desperate man, after his failure to bring a trophy to Liverpool or qualify for the Champions league he now finds himself in trouble and once again looks to Saints with envy. Last summer Brendon Rodgers showed himself to be a man with little scruples in the way he coveted certain Saints players and demanded that they move to Anfield immediately or he would throw his toys out of the pram. His behaviour meant that the three players he signed from Saints saw their careers drop as a direct consequence of the way he operates. Adam Lallana was set to be a regular starter in the World Cup last summer for England, but Roy Hodgson changed his mind on that when he saw that Lallana was seemingly more interested in pushing through a move to Liverpool than actually heeding what the England manager had warned his players not to do and that was once the squad had assembled put all transfers and contracts aside till after the tournament. That was not good enough for Rodgers who demanded Lallana move to Anfield or risk seeing the Lord God Brendon look elsewhere, ulimately whilst i dont blame Lallana for wanting to go, he was being forced into a corner and that was the fault of Rodgers. Likewise Rickie Lambert, another offered a quick take it or leave it deal, the fact that it was his hometown club has meant that he was excused, but he has seen his career go down the pan because having signed him, our friend Rodgers hadn't really thought how he could use him. Dejan Lovren is perhaps a victim of Rodgers ineptitude more than the other two, Ok he is public enemy number 1 with Saints fans, but in 2013/14 he was very good for us, the reason for that was he was paired with Jose Fonte a player who complimented his style of play, at Liverpool he found himself always alongside players of a similar nature , ie big & strong but lacking the finesse and positional sense of a Fonte type. So now its no surprise that Rodgers is after Nathaniel Clyne and it is no surprise that he is doing it in exactly the same way that he did last year, putting in derisory bids and using the media to stir up the player. The reality is that the alleged bid of £10 million is far short of the actual valuation of the player, a 10 year old in Barnsley would be able to tell you that, so why put in a bid so low and will be flatly rejected. The reason is that Rodgers is fighting for his job, the defeat at Stoke was a big indication that he has lost the dressing room and the manner of that 6-1 loss, Liverpool's biggest in half a century also highlighted that tactically whatever he had he appears to have lost. With rumours of Fenway Sports Group the Anfield club's owners losing patience, means that Brendon has to act fast and he thinks that a £10 million bid for Clyne will show his employers that not only has he got the finger on the pulse for next years team, but he is not going to waste the amount of money that he did last summer. The news that Liverpool are after Clyne is no surprise, after all they have no recognised right back at the club, Rodgers is in fact merely showing FSG that rather than pay him vast amounts that they would just as well employ the 10 year old from Barnsley who if he has a modicum of knowledge gleaned from Championship Manager would probably do a better job than Rodgers. Saints will of course reject the offer, press, assuming that the press rumours of a bid going in are just that so far, after all surely even Rodgers would not be so daft to insult us with that sort of bid, especially after last summer. The D Day for Clyne to decide his future will be around 8pm on Saturday 30th May, then he will know if Saints are in Europe or not, if they are then Liverpool in their current shambles will offer nothing better than Saints can, indeed as it stands it is worse, Liverpool are in disarray whilst Saints have a settled squad which will be tweaked in the summer with some departures and arrivals, but is in far better shape than the Anfield club. However Saints should be on their guard, should Rodgers be sacked then Liverpool might get in a manager who knows what he is doing and that could be bad news in keeping Clyne.
